Great rental, recommended

Thank you Wendy for the opportunity to travel the country. 💙 We had an amazing time and cannot wait to do it again. Wendy is an amazing person. She also allows flexibility with pick up and drop off. We highly recommend her for future rentals.

The camper was clean, comfortable and was perfect for what was needed. They are very accommodating as Greg had to delivery one to a location almost two hours away one way. Then had to turn around and drop off to me which is around an hour. Every thing went smoothly, the generator starts on first pull and was great on gas. We were happy to have the camper on Thursday as it poured for part of the night. In the past when it rained we were in a tent. It was nice to be able to take a shower to get the dust off of me and sweat. Bed is super comfortable and the ac worked well but we only used it for a short time. All in all it was a great experience dealing with them. Will be looking forward to using them again next year.

My son and I stayed in this camper for a long weekend in the Catskills. It was perfect, and exactly what we were looking for. We will definitely be staying in it every year for this event!

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Kingston, NY

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Kingston, NY?

An RV rental in Kingston, NY can fit a range of budgets. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, campervans run roughly $150 to $250 per night, and larger Class C motorhomes range from $200 to $350 per night during peak Hudson Valley season. Booking mid-week, traveling in late April or early November, or choosing a smaller trailer are easy ways to find a cheap RV rental Kingston families love. Pro tip: Kingston gets busy during fall foliage weekends in October, so lock in your dates 2 to 3 months ahead for the best pricing and the widest selection of rigs.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Kingston, New York?

Good news for first timers: a regular New York Class D driver's license (or your home state equivalent) is all you need for nearly every RV rental in Kingston, NY. New York's Recreational Vehicle 'R' endorsement only applies to non-commercial rigs over 26,000 pounds GVWR, which is well above the weight of the Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers most guests book. To rent on RVezy you must generally be 25 or older and pass driver verification during booking, so there is nothing extra to bring to pickup beyond your valid license. Visiting from abroad? An International Driving Permit paired with your home license keeps you road ready.

What happens if I need to cancel my Kingston RV rental?

Booking is low risk. RVezy (not the individual host) sets the cancellation policy, and every reservation includes a grace period after booking where you can receive a full refund. After that window, your refund depends on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. Full details are available in the RVezy Help Center, and customer support is reachable before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: if a nor'easter or early snowstorm rolls through the Catskills the week of your trip, message support right away so they can help you explore your options.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Kingston?

Yes, plenty of tail-wagging trips start here. Many hosts offer a pet-friendly RV rental Kingston dog owners love, and you can find them quickly using the Pet-Friendly filter when you search. Once you're on the road, the Hudson Valley is loaded with dog-welcoming spots: leashed pups are welcome on the trails at Minnewaska State Park Preserve, along the Hudson at Kingston Point Beach, and at most Ulster County campgrounds. New York State Parks allow up to two pets per campsite with a current rabies certificate, so toss that paperwork in the glovebox. Pro tip: Forsyth Nature Center in midtown Kingston is a fun, free stop to stretch four legs before heading into the Catskills.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Kingston?

Absolutely, and it is the easiest way to start a stress-free Kingston RV trip. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery Kingston travelers rave about: they'll tow the rig to your driveway, a Hudson Valley vacation rental, or directly to a campground like Rondout Valley Resort or the Saugerties/Woodstock KOA, level it, hook up utilities, and walk you through every system. That makes it ideal if it's your first time renting an RV or if you'd rather skip towing on Route 28. Use the Delivery filter when you search, then message the host with your destination address to confirm the delivery fee and distance.

How far can I drive on a Kingston RV road trip, and is unlimited mileage available?

You have plenty of road to roam. Hosts set their own mileage policies, and you'll see options ranging from around 100 free miles per night to RV rental with unlimited mileage right on the listing page, so you can match the rig to your route before booking. Kingston is a great launch point: New York City is about 95 miles south, Lake George sits about 130 miles north, Niagara Falls is roughly 320 miles west, and Bar Harbor, Maine is around 430 miles northeast. Pro tip: for a classic RV road trip from Kingston, follow Route 28 west into the Catskills and loop up to Cooperstown (about 90 miles), and you'll stay well within most mileage allowances.

Where are the best campgrounds near Kingston, NY for RVs?

You're spoiled for choice. Some of the best campgrounds near Kingston include Rondout Valley Resort in Accord (about 15 miles southwest, full hookups and a pool), Saugerties/Woodstock KOA in Saugerties (about 12 miles north, 50-amp sites and cabins), Interlake RV Park near Rhinebeck (full hookups and a fishing pond), Blue Mountain Campground near Saugerties (family friendly, close to Kaaterskill Falls), and North-South Lake Campground in Haines Falls (the largest state-run campground in the Catskill Forest Preserve, about 30 miles north). Pro tip: for RV camping Kingston locals brag about, book a riverside site at Kingston Rondout Yacht Basin, just minutes from downtown's waterfront restaurants and breweries.

When is the best time of year to rent an RV in Kingston, NY?

Late spring through mid-fall is the sweet spot, with one bonus season most travelers miss. From May through early October, daytime highs in Kingston run from the high 60s to mid 80s Fahrenheit, every Catskill campground is open, and the Hudson Valley is alive with farm stands and live music. The smartest move: plan your trip for the last week of September through mid-October, when the Catskills hit peak fall foliage, crowds thin out, and crisp overnight lows make for perfect campfire weather. Winters here are cold and snowy (January highs around freezing), but a few four-season hosts offer winterized rigs for ski trips to Hunter Mountain and Belleayre.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one around Kingston?

You'll be in great hands. A first time renting an RV in Kingston is easier than most people expect, because every host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup: how to extend the slide-outs, dump the tanks, run the generator, and operate the propane fridge. If the idea of driving a 25-foot Class C still makes you nervous, choose delivery and the rig will be set up and waiting at the campground. Pro tip: stick to a Class B campervan or a small travel trailer for your first Kingston, NY RV trip, take I-87 (the New York State Thruway) for the smoothest driving, and avoid the narrow streets of the Stockade Historic District in uptown Kingston.

What happens if my RV breaks down during my Kingston trip?

Take a deep breath, you're covered. Every booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so whether you've got a flat on Route 209, a dead battery at Kenneth L. Wilson Campground, or a propane issue at the Saugerties/Woodstock KOA, one phone call gets a technician dispatched to your location. Your host is also just a message away through the RVezy app for quick troubleshooting tips, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: cell coverage can get spotty deep in the Catskills near Slide Mountain or Phoenicia, so snap a screenshot of the roadside assistance number and your host's contact info before you leave Kingston.

Can I take my Kingston RV rental into other states or up to Canada?

Yes, multi-state RV road trips from Kingston are one of the most popular ways to use your rental. Travel into Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania is generally allowed, and many hosts also welcome trips into Canada (message the host first so they can confirm and update your protection coverage). Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Favorite routes from Kingston include the Berkshires (about 90 miles east), the Green Mountains of Vermont (about 150 miles north), Bar Harbor, Maine (about 430 miles northeast), and Niagara Falls (about 320 miles west). Pro tip: bring your passport if you're heading north to Montreal, around 280 miles up I-87.

What kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I expect in Kingston?

Easy to budget for. Most Class C motorhomes around Kingston get about 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class B campervans get roughly 15 to 20 MPG, and a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer averages 10 to 14 MPG. New York gasoline prices typically run a bit above the U.S. national average, so check current prices before you go and budget accordingly. For a 300-mile weekend loop through the Catskills and back to Kingston, expect roughly $90 to $130 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: Stewart's Shops and stations along Washington Avenue in Kingston are convenient fill-up spots with easy RV access before you hop on the Thruway.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Kingston?

Sooner is better, but you've got options. New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) campgrounds in the Catskills, including North-South Lake, Kenneth L. Wilson, and Woodland Valley, accept reservations up to 9 months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and prime summer and fall foliage weekends fill the moment that window opens. Private parks like Rondout Valley Resort and the Saugerties/Woodstock KOA usually book 2 to 4 months out for peak season. Pro tip: for a last-minute Hudson Valley escape, weekday stays in May, early June, and late September often have wide-open availability at both public and private campgrounds.

What are driving conditions like around Kingston and the Catskills?

Driving here is enjoyable as long as you know the local quirks. I-87 (the New York State Thruway) and Route 209 are wide, well-maintained, and great for any size RV. Slow down on the twisty mountain routes into the Catskills, like Route 28 through Phoenicia, Route 23A over Kaaterskill Clove (steep grades and tight switchbacks), and the narrow lanes of uptown Kingston's historic Stockade District. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk, and expect occasional snow squalls from mid-November through March. Pro tip: if you're driving a tall Class A in high winds, consider the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge on Route 199 for an easier Hudson crossing.

What hookups, dump stations, and water fills will I find at Kingston-area campgrounds?

You'll be well taken care of. Private campgrounds in the Kingston area, including Rondout Valley Resort and the Saugerties/Woodstock KOA, typically offer full hookups (30 and 50 amp electric, water, and sewer) plus on-site dump stations, potable water fills, Wi-Fi, pools, and laundry. State-run DEC campgrounds like North-South Lake and Kenneth L. Wilson are more rustic, with a central dump station and water spigots but no in-site hookups, perfect for a quieter Catskills experience. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank in Kingston before heading deep into the Catskill Forest Preserve, where dump and fill stations are more spread out.

What equipment and amenities come with a typical Kingston RV rental?

Plenty. A typical motorhome rental Kingston travelers book comes ready to camp: real beds (most sleep 4 to 8), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and cookware, an indoor bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control with both furnace and air conditioning, a dinette that converts to extra sleeping space, and seatbelted travel seats. Many listings also include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and a generator for off-grid stays. Wi-Fi hotspots, bike racks, camp chairs, and BBQs are popular host-provided add-ons. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities list and message your host if you want a campervan rental Kingston-style with solar power for boondocking in the Catskills.

What add-ons, pickup options, and mileage policies should I know about?

You're in the driver's seat. Each Kingston host sets their own mileage policy (often 100 to 150 free miles per night, with some listings offering unlimited mileage), pickup time, and add-on menu. Popular extras include linen and kitchen kits, generator hours, bike racks, kayaks for paddling the Esopus or Rondout Creek, portable BBQs, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Most rentals are round-trip back to Kingston, though some hosts will discuss delivery to a campground for an added fee. Pro tip: message the host directly from the listing before booking to bundle the add-ons you want, and ask about an early pickup so you maximize daylight on day one.

How does payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Kingston?

It's refreshingly simple. All payments for your RV rental Kingston booking are handled securely through RVezy, never in cash or off-platform, which keeps you protected. You'll pay your trip total through RVezy at booking, and a refundable security deposit is held separately before pickup (the amount is shown on the listing). As long as you return the RV on time and in the same condition per the host's instructions, the deposit is released after the trip. Pro tip: take a quick video walkaround of the RV at pickup and drop-off, including the interior and slide-outs, so both you and your host have a clear record and the deposit is released without a hitch.

Can I rent an RV in Kingston for a winter or shoulder-season trip?

Yes, and winter in the Hudson Valley is genuinely magical. Several Kingston hosts list four-season rigs equipped with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, propane furnaces, and shore power compatibility so you stay toasty even when overnight lows drop into the teens. Select private campgrounds in the area keep limited sites open through the colder months, and you'll be about 45 minutes from skiing at Belleayre and Hunter Mountain. Pro tip: ask your host for a quick demo on keeping the fresh water hose from freezing (a heated hose or insulated wrap is the trick), and pack tire chains if you're heading into the high Catskills between December and March.
