- Carrie Marie S.Jul 20211. Knee-jerk Reaction: (Lyn— one ⭐️) We rented a camping trailer for a trip beginning July 13th and ending July 16th. We won’t rent one again unless someone takes responsibility & makes up for the difficulty that we paid a lot of money for on this trip. The software based system failed us first, last, and in the middle. In acquiring the rental agreement, we received messages that inferred content that we did not receive. Then, being off the grid, we couldn’t watch the videos on operational procedures, but why would someone even do that during their camp out? Plus nothing was mentioned about previewing videos BEFORE we picked up the thing. Afterwards, there was nothing to do or anyone to talk to about our experience such that we might want to debrief about our time in this unit. The return time for text messages was often 24 hours! How handy is that? Next, was appliance failures. We have camped in old units for free. No heat, no AC, no cold food storage, no working potty or faucet or shower. We made it using alternate methods. We finally got a chance to try a new one. We had pretty much the same experience as the free trailers from before. The “air in the propane line” became like a mantra regarding the refrigerator never working once. Same with the water heater, the stove, and the heater. The propane tank valves were opened up all the way. It just occurred to us that perhaps the propane tank was just like the gasoline tank for the generator—EMPTY! With all those LP appliances, a few trips to a cold mountain camp and sshhhtt! Propane All Gone! How sad that Sean had a meeting when I brought his unit back. No need to be accountable for his easy cheesy introduction to the equipment use or fuel supply status. He apparently had a meeting coming up right after I picked it up. So I washed his trailer, repaired the screen door, fixed a couple of small things that came loose inside, washed out the gray and black tanks, and returned it by noon on the 16th. What’s the chance that we could have our $700 back?. But the new tires held up. And the battery apparently did too. Without some amelioration for the difficulties we had, we’ll find another camper service to use. The whole thing sucked because we were expecting to have a new trailer to use. Instead we got Patrick McManus’ stories in real life: “CAMPING: A Fine and Pleasant Misery” Look it up. It’s a classic! 2. In Retrospect: (Carrie— 5 ⭐️) The camper was cute and comfortable. It was great that little extras like marshmallow roasters were included. It would have been nice to have the stove and fridge working, (Lyn had gone there early to learn how they work, but instead was given a non-working demonstration) The generator/air conditioning was sure a lifesaver. Luckily we had happened to bring gasoline. It was nice to not have to walk to the camp pit toilet at night. Sean’s instructions on how to clean the blackwater and graywater were concise, but accurate. We found it interesting that we were expected to clean it even after paying the (refundable?) cleanout fee. We had camped so far away though, that we couldn’t return the camper as early as Sean originally wanted, so we did it to save him time. Overall, this was a fun camping trip and a great learning experience. I think Sean might not be used to having to explain to newbies, but he will get better reviews if he only rents to experienced campers then. TOTAL stars (Average of 1 and 5) = 3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️
