What began as an unfortunate mechanical issue escalated into an exercise in entitled financial restitution. When a water leak resurfaced mid-trip, we offered an immediate 100% cancellation refund. The guest explicitly declined, choosing to finish their 7-day stay knowing the water system would remain off. Upon return, we fully refunded unprovided add-ons and issued a 25% refund to compensate for their cleanup time and laundry. Despite accepting those terms mid-trip, the guest demanded a 70% refund of the gross booking total—a figure that far exceeds the host’s actual payout after platform fees and taxes, essentially demanding a free vacation. Future hosts should beware of post-trip demands that far exceed agreed-upon terms.
