Meet “Appa”, our Ford Transit Connect! Although he can’t fly like in Avatar, he is fully equipped with a bed that sleeps two, a ventilation fan, a Jackery Solar 1000 battery and solar panels to charge all of your electronics, plenty of storage space for your belongings, and roof bars if you’re like us and prefer to take your surfboards along with you on your adventure!
We built Appa from the ground up to be a practical, efficient, photogenic, and reliable van that will get you where you need to go and look good doing it!
At just 15 feet, Appa drives more like a car than an RV(and trust us when we say he is EXTREMELY maneuverable compared to other vehicles). He also doesn’t stick out like other camper vans, and has a certain “stealth” element.
Whether you’re looking for an escape while working remotely, taking that trip you’ve been planning for ages, or just want a spontaneous getaway, Appa can facilitate it!

Great little van, very easily maneuverable and was surprisingly no worse on gas mileage than my regular car. The couple renting it out is really nice and made sure to explain everything, which was kind of necessary because the van is old and has a lot of quirks. I didn't mind this because I was essentially using it as a step-up from tent camping, but if you are envisioning the kind of luxe "van life" situation where people comfortably live in their renovated vans for very extended periods of time, this is probably a lot smaller than what you're looking for (even a very short person could not stand up straight in this). There were a few things (lights, radio) that weren't working at the time that I rented it, but for the price point and considering it was just me and my dog for 3 days I didn't mind and appreciated the comfort of having pots/pans/dishes/electrical outlets/bedding/a fridge while camping. And the mattress is surprisingly comfortable! And they were chill about having a dog which isn't always easy to find.
Easy to drive. Plenty of space for 2 smaller people or 2 adults who don't mind snuggling. Gas efficient, Great van for a road trip. I would definitely rent again!
Little Appa served it’s purpose for the half marathon I came up for. It’s cute, easy to navigate and drive, easy to get in and out of camp sights, battery pack came in handy for charging, cute little fridge that can plug into the 12v, burner, dishes and pots for camping, and the mattress is quite comfy. The plug in electric blanket was amazing for my first cold night!
The owner was accommodating and flexible. He was attentive to some issues that came up, however they are issues that really needed to be fixed before renting. We discussed them and I feel certain he will fix them prior to the next renter.
All in all, it was a great experience and served exactly what I needed it for! I would definitely rent this little one again as long as the issues were remedied. Go for it!
