FAQs
Q: What time can I pick up and drop off the vehicle?
A: Pick-up and drop-off times are quite flexible! As long as the vehicle's availability allows on that day, we don't have to strictly stick to the default times. Just send me a message with your preferred travel schedule, and we can coordinate a time that works best for both of us.
Q: What is the vehicle clearance, and can I enter parking garages?
A: The total clearance with the iKamper mounted is 7'4". It does not fit in standard parking structures, residential garages, or low-clearance drive-thrus. Always watch for low-hanging branches and height barriers at campsites and trailheads.
Q: Can I drive off-road or on backcountry trails?
A: Graded, well-maintained USFS and BLM dirt/gravel roads leading to trailheads and campsites are fully permitted. However, technical off-roading, rock crawling, mud bogging, or water crossings are strictly prohibited by platform insurance policies.
Q: How many people does the rooftop tent sleep, and how hard is it to set up?
A: The hard-shell iKamper comfortably sleeps 2 adults (or 2 adults and 1 small child). It sets up and packs away in under 60 seconds with an integrated ladder and built-in mattress—no staking or ground pitching required.
Q: What is the fuel policy?
A: The Jeep comes with a full tank of gas upon pickup. Please return it full—Premium (91+ octane) is strongly preferred, as I only feed this rig the best fuel to keep the engine running at its peak. Prefer not to worry about refueling before drop-off? Select our 'Prepaid Fuel' add-on at checkout to return it empty. If the vehicle is returned without a full tank and without the add-on, a $75 refueling fee plus the cost of gas will apply.
Q: How much luggage space is available inside the Jeep?
A: Plenty! With the tent on the roof, the entire trunk is open for your gear. To maximize your cargo room, equipment like the portable cooler is offered as optional add-ons rather than pre-loaded. If you do select these bulky add-ons, note that they will occupy a portion of the trunk space. Soft duffels are strongly recommended over rigid luggage.
Q: How does the tent handle Pacific Northwest rain and cold weather?
A: The hard-shell canvas tent is fully waterproof and insulated against standard PNW coastal and mountain conditions. Pack warm sleeping bags or bedding rated appropriately for mountain temperatures.
Q: Are dogs allowed on the trip or in the tent?
A: Dogs are welcome! To protect the mattress and canvas, we ask that paws are cleaned before entering the tent. Any excessive pet hair or mud at return may incur an additional detailing fee.
Other things to note
- Clearance Warning: Total vehicle height with the tent mounted is roughly 7'4". DO NOT enter standard commercial parking garages, low drive-thrus, or car washes.
- Driving Rules: Travel on paved roads and maintained, graded USFS/gravel access roads leading to designated campsites is permitted. Strict NO rock-crawling, extreme off-roading, or beach/dune driving.
- Tent Care: Please do not pack the tent away soaking wet without alerting us at check-out so we can air-dry it immediately.
- Cleanliness & Policy: Strict NO smoking, vaping

Based in the greater Seattle area, I spend nearly all my free time outdoors—whether that’s skiing/snowboarding alpine slopes in the winter, scuba diving cold PNW waters, or road-tripping deep into the Cascades. I outfitted this Jeep with an rooftop tent to make getting off the grid effortless and comfortable after a full day outside. My priority is making sure your trip is seamless, reliable, and unforgettable, with plenty of local recommendations along the way. Happy to help you plan your next mountain or coastal getaway
