Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Nashville, IL
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Nashville, IL?
RV rental in Nashville, IL is one of the more affordable options in southern Illinois. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $80 to $130 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $150 to $250 per night, and larger Class A coaches run $200 to $350 per night. Because Nashville sits at the I-64 and Route 127 crossroads rather than in a major metro, prices often run lower than St. Louis pickups about 60 miles west. To find a cheap RV rental in Nashville, IL, travel midweek, book at least four weeks ahead, and sort listings by lowest nightly rate. Shoulder months like April and October usually offer the best value with mild weather.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Nashville%2C%20IllinoisWhat kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Nashville, IL?
Great news for first-time renters: a regular Class D driver's license is all you need for almost every RV rental in Nashville, IL. Illinois ties license class to weight, and the standard Class D covers any vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 16,000 pounds or less, which includes virtually every campervan, travel trailer, and Class C motorhome on RVezy. You also need to be at least 25 years old, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you are set. Most guests are surprised how simple the process really is.
ilsos.gov/departments/drivers/drivers_license/classifications.htmlIs my RV rental protected if something happens during the trip?
Yes, you can book with confidence. Every RV rental in Nashville, IL booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance built into your reservation. The protection plan helps cover damage to the RV during your trip, giving you meaningful financial peace of mind. During checkout you choose your level of coverage, so you decide how much protection feels right for your trip. With Interstate 64 nearby and service centers in Mount Vernon and the St. Louis Metro East area, help is never far away. Book, breathe, and focus on the fun.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat is the cancellation policy if my plans change?
You have flexibility built in. RVezy sets the cancellation policy on every booking, not the individual host, so you get a consistent, fair process across every RV rental in Illinois. There is a grace period shortly after booking, plus protections that may apply in situations like natural disasters or severe weather, which can matter in southern Illinois where spring storms roll through Washington County. Specific terms depend on how far out you cancel, so review the full policy on RVezy's Help Center before confirming. Booking your Nashville RV trip is low-risk, so go ahead and lock in your dates while the calendar is open.

Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and any breed or size notes so check-in is smooth.
dnr.illinois.gov/parks/park.washingtoncounty.htmlCan the RV be delivered to my campsite or driveway?
Yes, RV delivery Nashville, IL is one of the most popular options for first-time renters. Many hosts on RVezy will drive the RV directly to your destination, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. That is a huge win if you are heading to Washington County State Recreation Area, Coves Campground at Rend Lake, or even a relative's driveway in town for the Washington County Fair. Use the Delivery filter to see hosts offering this service, and message them with your exact address so they can quote the delivery fee, which is typically based on round-trip mileage from their location.
dnr.illinois.gov/parks/park.washingtoncounty.htmlHow does mileage work, and can I get unlimited miles?
You have options. Most hosts include a set number of free miles per night, often 100 to 150, and charge a small per-mile fee beyond that. Some listings offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is the smart pick for a long Nashville, IL RV trip heading to Shawnee National Forest (about 90 miles south) or St. Louis (60 miles west). Each listing shows its mileage policy clearly before you book. Pro tip: map your full route in advance, including side trips to Rend Lake and Carlyle Lake, then filter or message hosts whose mileage allowance comfortably covers your plan. No surprises at drop-off, just a great trip.

Spring brings green countryside and the Washington County Fair tradition in late summer, while fall delivers cool nights, fewer bugs, and gorgeous color along the rolling farmland of Route 127. Winters dip into the 20s to 40s with occasional ice, so most area campgrounds, including Rend Lake's loops, close between November and mid-March. Pro tip: aim for the second half of September for unbeatable weather and open sites.

Earlier is always better, but you still have options. Rend Lake's Corps of Engineers campgrounds open reservations six months in advance through Recreation.gov, and prime summer weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day fill within days of opening. Washington County State Recreation Area and Eldon Hazlet at Carlyle Lake are reserved through the IDNR Reserve Illinois system and book up fast for holiday weekends. For midweek stays in May, September, and October, you can often grab sites just a week or two out. Set up a free cancellation alert and check Recreation.gov on Sunday evenings, when many holds drop back into the pool.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/1690What are driving conditions like around Nashville, IL?
You will find some of the most relaxed RV driving in the Midwest. Nashville sits at the crossroads of Interstate 64 and Illinois Routes 127 and 15, giving you wide, well-maintained lanes with light traffic compared to Chicago or St. Louis. The terrain is gently rolling farmland with no mountain grades, so brakes and engine load stay easy. Watch for slow-moving farm equipment on rural routes in spring and fall, deer at dawn and dusk, and occasional summer thunderstorms that can bring strong crosswinds along I-64. Pro tip: avoid I-64 westbound into St. Louis between 7 and 9 a.m. on weekdays, otherwise you will love how stress-free driving here feels.
idot.illinois.gov/travel-information/road-conditions.htmlWhat should I expect at campgrounds near Nashville, IL?
You will find well-maintained, full-service amenities at most parks. The Corps of Engineers campgrounds at Rend Lake (Gun Creek, South Sandusky, South Marcum, North Sandusky) all offer electric hookups, dump stations, hot showers, flush toilets, and potable water fill stations. Washington County State Recreation Area provides electric sites, a dump station, and access to the 248-acre lake. Most sites include a picnic table and fire ring. Sewer hookups at individual sites are less common in Illinois state and federal campgrounds, so plan one dump-station stop per stay. Pro tip: top off fresh water before leaving the campground, and download the Recreation.gov app for real-time site maps and check-in info.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/233611What amenities will my RV rental come with?
More than you might expect. A typical motorhome rental in Nashville, IL or travel trailer on RVezy comes with a queen or king bed, a kitchen with a fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control, and dining seating that converts to extra sleeping space. Many include a TV, Wi-Fi hotspots, or Bluetooth speakers, and larger units carry an onboard generator for off-grid camping at spots like Washington County State Recreation Area. Each listing shows exact amenities, sleeps count, and seatbelt count so you can match the rig to your group. Filter by Sleeps 6 or Sleeps 8 to quickly find family RV trip Nashville, IL options.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Nashville%2C%20IllinoisWhat add-ons and pickup options should I look for?
The right add-ons turn a good trip into a great one. Many Nashville, IL hosts offer bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, camp chairs, outdoor grills, bike racks, and generators, usually $15 to $50 each per trip. Delivery and setup is one of the most popular add-ons, especially for renters heading to Rend Lake or Washington County State Recreation Area. Pickup is typically at the host's address with a 30 to 60 minute orientation, and drop-off mirrors pickup unless delivery is arranged. Each listing spells out mileage policy, generator hours, and any cleaning or dump fees. Bundle delivery plus a linen package on your first trip so you arrive to a fully made bed and a ready-to-camp rig.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Nashville%2C%20IllinoisHow does payment and the security deposit work?
The process is transparent and secure. When you book an RV rental in Nashville, IL on RVezy, your payment is processed through the platform, never directly to the host. A refundable security deposit is held separately from the booking payment to cover any potential damage or excess mileage; the amount is shown on the listing before you confirm. After drop-off and a quick host inspection, the deposit is released back to you. To avoid issues, take date-stamped photos and a short video of the RV inside and out at pickup and drop-off. Review the mileage and generator policies on the listing so there are no surprises at return.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park or stay overnight if I am not at a campground?
You have legal options for a quick overnight. In Illinois, most rest areas along Interstate 64 allow short rest stops but not full camping, per the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). For overnight stays, your best bets near Nashville, IL are the developed campgrounds at Washington County State Recreation Area, Rend Lake, and Carlyle Lake. Some Walmart and Cracker Barrel locations in Mount Vernon and Centralia permit overnight RV parking with manager approval, just call ahead. Boondocking on private farmland is possible with the owner's permission, common in rural Washington County. Pro tip: always confirm where to park an RV in Nashville, IL the night before, and you will sleep easy.
