Campgrounds and RV parks near Chandlerville, IL

Chandlerville sits in Cass County in west-central Illinois, along the Sangamon River and within reach of the Illinois River valley. The village is small and rural, so most RV camping happens at private parks and state-managed forests within a short drive rather than in town itself. The area's largest public option is Sand Ridge State Forest, the largest state forest in Illinois at roughly 7,200 acres of oak-hickory woods, pine plantations, open fields, and sand prairie. Pine Camp - Sand Ridge State Forest handles most of the tent and small-RV traffic on the public side, with additional backcountry sites along the forest trail system. Private parks in the surrounding counties round out the choices, including Crazy Horse Campground, Crazy Horse Campground, L.L.C., Evening Star Camping Resort, and Buena Vista Farms Campground. Together these campgrounds cover a range of styles, from primitive forest sites without hookups to family-oriented private resorts with pools, planned activities, and hookup RV sites.

Sand Ridge State Forest and other Illinois state sites are reserved through the ExploreMoreIL website run by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance and must be made at least three days before arrival, with a maximum stay of 14 nights within a 30-day period. A non-refundable reservation fee applies on top of the nightly camping and utility charges, and Memorial Day, Labor Day, and qualifying Fourth of July weekends carry a two-night minimum. Backcountry sites at Sand Ridge require a separate camping permit obtained before the trip. Private parks like Crazy Horse Campground, Evening Star Camping Resort, and Buena Vista Farms Campground book directly through their own websites or by phone, and summer weekends often fill weeks ahead.
