Campgrounds and RV parks near Farmington, IL

Farmington sits in Fulton County in west-central Illinois, roughly a half hour southwest of Peoria. RV travelers use the town as a base for two very different public-land camping systems. Jubilee College State Park is a 3,200 acre facility located in Peoria County between the towns of Kickapoo and Brimfield, just off of US Route 150, with rolling topography and meandering Jubilee Creek. To the southeast, Sand Ridge State Forest sits just minutes southwest of Peoria, a 7,550 acre forest, the largest of Illinois' state forests, with native oak-hickory woodland, extensive pine plantations, sprawling open fields, grasslands and completely unique sand prairies. The closest developed sites are at Woodchuck Ridge - Jubilee College State Park, which offers electric loops and a shower building. South of the Illinois River, Oak Camp - Sand Ridge State Forest and Pine Camp - Sand Ridge State Forest provide a more primitive experience under pines and hardwoods. Private options fill the gap for families who want hookups and amenities. Cabin Fever Campground and Hunt Club and Evening Star Camping Resort both cater to weekend RV travelers, with Evening Star located in the small community of Topeka along the Illinois River corridor.

Illinois state park and forest sites are booked through the state's reservation platform. On-line reservations for all Illinois Department of Natural Resources-hosted camping, cabins, group camps, and shelters can be made through the ExploreMoreIL website. Campsites can be reserved for a maximum of 14 nights within a 30-day period and reservations must be made three days before the campsite is needed. A reservation cannot be made more than 180 days in advance of the guest arrival date. A few sites work differently. Equestrian-only camping at Jubilee is located on the north side of the park; equestrian sites are not reserveable, and there is a campground host located at the front of the campground to get you registered, or it is self-pay during winter months. Sand Ridge backcountry camping is available at 12 primitive sites along 55 miles of trail; users must obtain a camping permit prior to back-country use from forest headquarters, campground host, silent host or at ExploreMoreIL. Private resorts such as Evening Star Camping Resort and Cabin Fever Campground and Hunt Club are booked directly through the operator.
