Campgrounds and RV parks near Findlay, IL

Findlay sits in central Illinois' Shelby County, just north of Lake Shelbyville, an 11,100-acre reservoir with 250 miles of shoreline that anchors most camping in the area. The town is a short drive to two large Illinois Department of Natural Resources parks flanking the lake, plus several private resorts and a state forest to the south. Eagle Creek State Recreational Area sits four miles southeast of Findlay on the west side of the lake, while Wolf Creek State Park Riding faces it from the east shore. Robin Hood Woods Campground and Resort lies just east of Shelbyville, and Sullivan Marina and Campgrounds Resort provides lake access at the north end near Sullivan. Hidden Springs State Forest, a quieter and more wooded option, is a short drive south of the lake corridor near Strasburg. Together these sites give RV renters a mix of state-park facilities, private resort amenities, and rustic forested ground within a compact area.

Illinois state park sites at Eagle Creek State Recreational Area and Wolf Creek State Park Riding are booked through the state's central reservation system at camp.exploremoreil.com or by phone. At Wolf Creek, 140 sites in the Lick Creek section are held for reservations for arrivals between May 1 and October 31, with requests accepted starting in January; remaining sites are first-come, first-served. Eagle Creek follows a similar pattern for its reservable Class A sites. Robin Hood Woods Campground and Resort and Sullivan Marina and Campgrounds Resort take bookings directly through their own offices and websites, which is typical for private resorts in the area. Hidden Springs State Forest is a Class C forest campground where staff issue permits on rounds and advance reservations are generally not required, though the group area at Shady Grove is by reservation only.
