Campgrounds and RV parks near Hammond, IL

Hammond sits in Piatt County in central Illinois, within an hour's drive of two of the region's largest reservoir recreation areas: Clinton Lake to the north and Lake Shelbyville to the south. Both are managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and offer developed campgrounds suited to RVs, from electric-only loops to sites with full hookups. The closest options include Sullivan Marina and Campgrounds Resort and Robin Hood Woods Campground and Resort on the private side, plus three state-run recreation areas. Eagle Creek and Wolf Creek face each other across the central portion of Lake Shelbyville, four miles southeast of Findlay, and the sites encompass 11,100 acres of water and 250 miles of shoreline. Clinton Lake State Recreation Area rounds out the public options to the north. Together these sites cover a mix of lakefront electric loops, wooded walk-in tent areas, and RV pads with hookups, giving families flexible options within roughly a 45-minute radius of Hammond.

Illinois state parks use a single reservation system. Reservations for Clinton Lake, Eagle Creek and Wolf Creek can be made at ExploreMoreIL. Reservations are made online and must be made at least 3 days prior to arrival. At Clinton Lake, campgrounds feature 17 Class AA campsites, 277 Class A campsites and 14 Class B/S campsites. Private options like Sullivan Marina and Campgrounds Resort and Robin Hood Woods Campground and Resort take reservations directly through their own booking channels, which is useful when state loops are full.
