Campgrounds and RV parks near Hanna City, IL

Hanna City sits in Peoria County in central Illinois, roughly ten miles west of Peoria and within easy reach of both state-managed forests and private RV resorts. The surrounding landscape is a mix of rolling woodland, prairie remnants, and Illinois River valley terrain, which gives campers more variety than the flat farmland stereotype suggests. The closest public option is Woodchuck Ridge at Jubilee College State Park, a 3,200-acre park in Peoria County between Kickapoo and Brimfield, just off U.S. Route 150. To the south, Sand Ridge State Forest is the largest state forest in Illinois, with sweeping oak-hickory woodland, pine plantations, sand prairies, and unusual features such as prickly pear cactus. Oak Camp and Pine Camp sit inside that forest. Private options round out the area. Sankoty Lakes, in Spring Bay along the Illinois River, is a newer resort with lakeside RV sites, glamping tents, and cabins. Evening Star Camping Resort, near Havana, is a long-running family campground with themed weekends, a pool, and mini golf.

State-park and state-forest campgrounds in Illinois use the ExploreMoreIL reservation system. Sites at Woodchuck Ridge in Jubilee College State Park, along with Oak Camp and shelters at Sand Ridge State Forest, can be reserved online. Permits are required and are issued by site staff or the campground host. Some sites remain first-come, first-served. Equestrian sites at Jubilee College are not reservable and are handled by the campground host, or by self-pay during winter months. Sand Ridge backcountry sites require a permit obtained from forest headquarters, the campground host, silent host, or ExploreMoreIL before use. Sankoty Lakes and Evening Star Camping Resort take reservations directly through their own operators, which is the best route for cabins, glamping tents, and full-hookup RV sites during peak weekends.
