Campgrounds and RV parks near Lansing, IL

Lansing sits in Chicago's far south suburbs, wedged against the Indiana state line and roughly 25 miles from downtown Chicago. The area's RV inventory is dominated by private, full-hookup parks rather than public campgrounds, and most sit in the rural corridor between the south suburbs and the Cedar Lake area of northwest Indiana. Interstates 80, 90, 94, and 394 all converge nearby, which makes Lansing a practical staging point for travelers heading into the city, out to Indiana Dunes National Park, or south toward Kankakee River country. Most RV camping options are found in the collar counties, in northwest Indiana, and along the Fox and Kankakee river corridors, with full-hookup RV resorts and private parks dominating the inventory closest to the city while state park and forest preserve campgrounds cluster farther out. Nearby options include Emerald Trails Campground in Crete, Cedar Lake Ministries RV Park and Cedar Lake Bible Retreat and RV Park across the state line, plus Lakeshore Camp Resort and Pingala RV Resort for travelers wanting resort-style amenities.

Private parks like Pingala RV Resort, Emerald Trails Campground, Lakeshore Camp Resort, and Cedar Lake Ministries RV Park are booked directly through each park's website or by phone. Summer weekends often sell out weeks or months ahead, so reserve early once travel dates are set. Weekly and monthly rates are common; ask about seasonal-site policies if planning an extended stay. Illinois state park campsites are booked through the ExploreMoreIL reservation portal, which replaced the older Reserve America system. Reservations must be made at least three days before arrival, require a non-refundable reservation fee, and require full camping and utility fees at booking. Indiana state park sites, relevant for Cedar Lake-area trips, are booked through the Indiana DNR camping portal on a similar rolling window.
