Campgrounds near Naperville
Naperville sits in Chicago's western suburbs in DuPage County, roughly 30 miles from downtown Chicago. RV travelers typically base themselves at private resorts along the I-80 and I-55 corridors south and west of the city, since DuPage County itself has no full-hookup public campground. Joliet, roughly a 30 minute drive south, is 40 miles from Chicago and only minutes from Chicagoland Speedway, with easy Metra Train access, which makes it the practical hub for RV stays.
The closest options include Leisure Lake Membership Resort and Martin Campground in the Joliet area, Hollywood Casino Hotel and RV Resort next to the casino property, and Chicagoland Speedway/Lakeside Campgrounds on the south side of Joliet. West of Naperville, Fox Bluff RV Resort sits along the Fox River in Yorkville.
Most sites in the area offer 30 and 50 amp electric, water, and sewer, with a mix of transient, monthly, and seasonal reservations. Public camping is handled separately through Illinois state parks and county forest preserves rather than through the private resorts.
Things to do near Naperville
Naperville's Riverwalk, Centennial Beach, and the DuPage Children's Museum anchor family days in town, while Cantigny Park in nearby Wheaton adds gardens and military history. The Illinois Prairie Path and the Fox River Trail give cyclists and walkers long paved routes out of the suburbs.
West along the Fox River in Yorkville, the Marge Cline Whitewater Course offers a paddling run on the Fox River suited to kayakers of varied skill levels, and Raging Waves is a large Illinois waterpark. Silver Springs State Fish and Wildlife Area covers roughly 1,350 acres with two small manmade lakes, a river trail, and fishing for catfish, bass, bluegill, and crappie, and the Fox River yields northern pike and muskie.
South of Naperville, Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie offers hiking, and Chicagoland Speedway hosts race weekends.

Most private RV resorts around Naperville run a full northern season. Fox Bluff typically camps from April 15 through October 15, and Martin Campground operates seasonally from spring through late fall. Leisure Lake generally closes in early December and reopens in April, so winter travelers have limited full-hookup options outside of the year-round Hollywood Casino RV park.
Late spring through early fall is the practical camping window. May and June bring the region's wettest weather and the highest thunderstorm risk, while July and August deliver the warmest, most humid conditions and the strongest demand for weekend sites. September and early October are typically drier and cooler, with fall color along the Fox River and DuPage forest preserves.
Race weekends at Chicagoland Speedway drive a major camping spike, and nearby resorts often sell out well ahead of major events, so travelers targeting those dates should book early.

How to book RV sites near Naperville
Private resorts are booked directly with each property. Fox Bluff RV Resort accepts transient, monthly, and seasonal reservations, restricts travel trailers and RVs to units ten years old or newer unless management approves an exception, and does not permit tent camping. Leisure Lake operates as a private membership resort but welcomes Good Sam members based on availability, so non-members should call ahead to confirm.
Martin Campground asks guests to call ahead to plan a visit. Hollywood Casino Hotel and RV Resort takes direct bookings and operates year-round. Illinois state parks use the ExploreMoreIL reservation system, with campsites bookable up to 180 days in advance and at least three days before arrival, and summer weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day fill quickly.
What to expect at area campgrounds
Expect suburban, not wilderness, camping. Most parks sit within earshot of I-55, I-80, or a rail corridor, and terrain is flat to gently rolling farmland. Sites tend to be grass or gravel with concrete or paved pads at the resort-tier properties, and shade varies from open lawn to mature oak canopy.
Leisure Lake features a 24-acre stocked fishing lake, a 2-acre sand-bottom swimming lake, a swimming pool, a convenience store, and free WiFi. Fox Bluff sits on 160 acres with over a mile of Fox River frontage and offers a resort-style pool, hot tub, cabanas, sports courts, playgrounds, hiking trails, tubing, and fishing. Hollywood Casino Joliet pairs a hotel with an RV park and a shuttle to the casino. Campfire policies vary by property, so guests should confirm at check-in.
