Ogden is a small village in Champaign County in east-central Illinois, positioned along Interstate 74 between the Champaign-Urbana metro area to the west and Danville to the east. RV travelers use it as a practical base for reaching the Vermilion County park cluster along the Middle Fork of the Vermilion River, which is the only National Scenic River in Illinois. The closest developed camping is at Kickapoo State Recreation Area near Oakwood in Vermilion County, easily accessible via I-74, where Redear Campground offers rustic tent sites and other loops handle RVs. Kickapoo is within about four miles of the Middle Fork State Fish and Wildlife Area, which includes an equestrian campground with river access. For full-hookup RV travel, D and W Lake Camping and RV Park sits on the west side of Champaign, about a half-hour drive from Ogden. Tin Cup RV Park in Mahomet provides another private option roughly 30 minutes west, and Gray Squirrel at Walnut Point State Park adds a state-park choice roughly an hour south near Oakland.

Illinois state parks in the Ogden area use a single reservation system. Kickapoo has two major campgrounds for tent or trailer camping, with online reservations available at ExploreMoreIL, and the Fox Squirrel and Gray Squirrel campgrounds at Walnut Point are also reservable through ExploreMoreIL. Sites can be booked up to about 180 days in advance and must be reserved at least 3 days ahead; non-reserved sites are available on arrival with a 2-night maximum on walk-ups. At Middle Fork State Fish and Wildlife Area Equestrian, sites are first-come, first-served. Private parks including D and W Lake Camping and RV Park and Tin Cup RV Park take direct online or phone bookings and typically welcome big rigs year round.
