Campgrounds and RV parks near Sullivan, IL

Sullivan sits on the north end of Lake Shelbyville in central Illinois, roughly 35 miles south of Decatur. The 11,100-acre reservoir is the anchor for camping in the area, with a shoreline shared between two Illinois state recreation areas and several U.S. Army Corps of Engineers parks. Most RV traffic funnels toward campgrounds within a short drive of town. Sullivan Marina and Campgrounds Resort is the closest option, located just south of town with direct lake and marina access. Across the water, Eagle Creek State Recreational Area covers about 2,200 acres on the west shore of Lake Shelbyville, while Wolf Creek State Park Riding sits opposite on the east side, offering large semi-wooded sites and a dedicated equestrian campground. Robin Hood Woods Campground and Resort adds cabins and cottages alongside standard RV sites. Lakeside Timbers RV Campground rounds out the local options for travelers who want a smaller, quieter base within reach of the lake, the Little Theatre on the Square in downtown Sullivan, and nearby state fishing and wildlife areas.

Illinois state park sites at Eagle Creek and Wolf Creek State Park Riding are reserved through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources system at ExploreMoreIL. Eagle Creek has 75 Class A reservable sites with electricity, showers, water hydrants, fire blocks, and picnic tables. Wolf Creek offers a 140-site reservable area in the Lick Creek section. Class B/S and Class D primitive sites are available but not reservable. Corps of Engineers campgrounds around Lake Shelbyville, including Forrest W. Bo Wood, use Recreation.gov, with reservations accepted up to 240 days in advance and required at least 4 days out. Some Corps areas remain first-come, first-served, so check the specific campground before arrival. Private campgrounds such as Sullivan Marina and Campgrounds Resort, Robin Hood Woods Campground and Resort, and Lakeside Timbers RV Campground are booked directly with the property by phone or website.
