The main RV season in the Chicago region runs from spring through fall. Most private campgrounds in the area operate from spring through late fall, though a few maintain year-round availability. Martin Campground operates seasonally from mid-March into November, which is typical for privately owned parks in the area, while Enchanted Shores in Peotone advertises year-round operation. Summer brings the warmest weather and the busiest bookings. Weekends around Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day fill early, and event weekends at Chicagoland Speedway can absorb most speedway-adjacent inventory. Spring and early fall offer cooler nights, thinner crowds, and easier reservations. Winter camping is limited. Snow, ice, and freezing overnight lows lead most private parks to close, drain water lines, and shut bathhouses. Renters traveling in the shoulder months should confirm that water, sewer, and restrooms will be active on arrival.

Most private parks near Tinley Park offer full or partial hookups suited to typical rental rigs. Martin Campground provides pull-through sites, full hookups, 30/50 amp electric with additional electric-water sites, tables, water, showers, and a dump station. Enchanted Shores in Peotone features 30-amp and 50-amp hookups, water and sewer, pull-through sites, big-rig accommodations, a dump station, laundry, showers, picnic tables, and grills. Sites at older private parks can be tight, and awning room is not always guaranteed. Expect gravel or grass pads, some highway noise near interstates, and mosquitoes in humid summer stretches. Cell coverage is strong across the metro area on all major carriers, and grocery, fuel, and propane are within a short drive of every park on the list.
