Campgrounds and RV parks near Westville, IL

Westville sits in Vermilion County in east-central Illinois, just south of Danville and a short drive from the Indiana state line. The area's main draw for RV travelers is Kickapoo State Recreation Area, a reclaimed surface-mine landscape of roughly 2,842 acres with deep-water ponds, lakes, hiking trails, and river access. Interstate 74 runs directly past the park, making it an easy stop for cross-country routes between Champaign-Urbana and Indianapolis. Redear Campground - Kickapoo State Recreation Area anchors public camping inside the park, with additional public land available at the adjacent Middle Fork State Fish and Wildlife Area Equestrian campground, which caters to horse trailers and rustic setups. Privately operated options in the area include Horseshoe Lakes RV Campground and Off the Trail Vacation Rentals & Campground, both offering hookups typical of commercial parks. For travelers willing to drive east across the border into west-central Indiana, Turkey Run Campground provides access to a scenic canyon-and-sandstone state park within about an hour of Westville.

Public campsites at Kickapoo State Recreation Area are reserved through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources' ExploreMoreIL system. Online reservations are accepted from May 1 through October 31; outside that window sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis, with permits issued by campground hosts. Reservations must be made at least three days in advance, and walk-up stays are capped at two nights. Middle Fork State Fish and Wildlife Area Equestrian sites are also handled through ExploreMoreIL. Privately run options in the area, such as Horseshoe Lakes RV Campground and Off the Trail Vacation Rentals & Campground, book directly with the operator. Turkey Run Campground, across the Indiana line, uses the Indiana State Parks reservation system.
