Campgrounds and RV parks near Cayuga, IN

Cayuga sits in western Vermillion County along the Wabash River, roughly a half hour north of Terre Haute and within easy reach of Parke County's covered-bridge country. The area draws RV travelers looking for a base near Turkey Run State Park and the Sugar Creek corridor, one of the most-hiked parts of the Indiana state park system. Campground options range from state-run electric sites to privately operated parks with full hookups and lake access. Turkey Run Campground sits inside Turkey Run State Park, while Horseshoe Lakes RV Campground, Peaceful Waters Campground, and Covered Bridge Campground offer private-park alternatives in the surrounding counties. Most nearby state park sites are back-in with electric service, with a smaller number of pull-throughs that can handle larger rigs. Cayuga itself is small, so grocery runs, fuel, and larger supply stops are typically handled in Danville, Illinois, or Terre Haute. Cell coverage is generally reliable along US-41 and thins out inside the wooded ravines of the state park.

Turkey Run State Park sites are reserved through the Indiana DNR reservation system at camp.IN.gov, or by phone at 1-866-6CAMP-IN. The booking window opens up to six months in advance for campsites, and shelters may be reserved up to a year ahead. Same-day reservations are allowed subject to availability, and a two-night minimum applies to weekend bookings with three nights required on holiday weekends. Private parks such as Horseshoe Lakes RV Campground, Peaceful Waters Campground, and Covered Bridge Campground handle bookings directly through their own websites or by phone. For the Covered Bridge Festival in October and for summer holiday weekends, book as early as the calendar allows.
