Campgrounds near Delphi, Indiana
Delphi sits in Carroll County along the Wabash River in west-central Indiana, roughly 18 miles north of Lafayette. The area is best known for Canal Park, which preserves the only remaining publicly accessible and navigable portion of the Wabash and Erie Canal, once the second-longest canal ever built in the world. That heritage, plus flat farm country, small rivers, and reservoir lakes to the north, shapes what RV travelers find here.
The closest full-service state campground is Prophetstown State Park, where the Tippecanoe River meets the Wabash near the town of Battle Ground northeast of Lafayette. About 25 miles north, Indiana Beach / Monticello KOA Holiday sits on Lake Shafer next to the Indiana Beach amusement park. Private options in the immediate Delphi area include Lost Acres RV Park, Big Fish-n-Camp Ground, and Spring Hill Campground.
Most RV travelers use Delphi as a base for canal trails, small-town Indiana, and family attractions in Lafayette and Monticello, then venture out on day trips.
Things to do near Delphi
The Wabash and Erie Canal Park anchors most itineraries. Public canal boat rides take place on Saturday afternoons during Canal Season, which runs from late May through mid-September, aboard a 54-foot replica canal boat called The Delphi. Trails running through the park are part of Delphi's ten-mile trail system, used for hiking, biking, bird-watching, and even cross-country skiing in winter.
Prophetstown State Park adds prairie hikes, paved bike paths, and, in summer, an Aquatic Center featuring a 30-foot tube slide, body flume, lazy river float area, zero-entry pool with play features, and an aquatic activity area with basketball. Nearby, families can visit Wolf Park in Battle Ground, the Tippecanoe Battlefield Museum, and Purdue University in West Lafayette.
For a change of pace, the Indiana Beach amusement park on Lake Shafer offers rides, a boardwalk, and boating.

Peak RV season runs late spring through early fall. Prophetstown State Park is best visited during the warmer months, from late spring to early fall, when all facilities, including the Aquatic Center, are fully operational. Canal boat rides, Pioneer Village programming, and most seasonal events at Delphi's Canal Park align with the same late-May-through-mid-September window.
Summer weekends and holidays fill quickly. Booking early is important to secure preferred dates, and weekdays generally offer better availability and a quieter experience. July and August bring the warmest weather and the heaviest family traffic, while May and June are typically the wettest months of the year.
Spring and fall are quieter and cooler. Delphi's canal-side trails are open year-round and welcome hikers, runners, and cyclists, so shoulder-season stays still deliver plenty to do. Winter access is limited: state park properties turn off water and winterize full-hookup sites from November through April, and most private canal-side programming pauses.

How to book campgrounds near Delphi
State park sites are reserved through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources system on Reserve America. For Prophetstown State Park, reservations must be made 2 days ahead of arrival and can be made up to 12 months in advance. Full-hookup sites in the 100s loop tend to book first, so reserving early is important.
Private campgrounds use their own systems. Indiana Beach / Monticello KOA Holiday takes reservations directly through the KOA website or by phone. Smaller local operators like Lost Acres RV Park, Big Fish-n-Camp Ground, and Spring Hill Campground are typically booked by phone or through the operator's own website; call ahead to confirm rig length, hookups, and seasonal opening dates.
For sold-out weekends, watch for cancellations on the state's reservation portal.
What to expect
Terrain is flat to gently rolling, with cornfields, hardwood pockets, and river bottoms. Prophetstown is unusual for Indiana: the park is dominated by restored tall-grass prairie rather than woodland, so shade at sites can be limited. The state campground offers 110 modern sites split roughly between full hookups and electric-only, with clean, well-maintained showers and restrooms.
Rig access is generally good on state highways, but note the driving guidance from the park: many mapping services provide incorrect directions, so use Exit 178 off I-65 and State Road 43 north of Lafayette rather than SR 225. Cell coverage in the region is reliable, and groceries, fuel, and dump stations are easy to find in Lafayette, Monticello, and Delphi itself.
Summer mosquitoes and humidity are typical along the rivers. Pack insect repellent, and expect afternoon thunderstorms in June and July.

Carroll County is flat farmland with wide, well-maintained two-lane state roads like SR-25, SR-39, and US-421, plus US-24 just to the north for east-west travel. Watch for occasional farm equipment in spring and fall, deer at dawn and dusk, and low railroad underpasses downtown if you are in a tall Class A. Otherwise, the roads here are some of the most stress-free in the Midwest for big rigs.

Popular cross-state runs from Delphi include Chicago at about 130 miles, Mackinaw City, MI at about 340 miles, and Cincinnati, OH at about 165 miles. Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host's insurance, so message them through the listing before booking to confirm and get written approval. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance coverage limits. Carry your rental agreement, license, and proof of the RVezy protection package, border officers occasionally ask, and you will be on your way quickly.
