Campgrounds and RV parks near Mulberry, IN

Water and trails anchor most trips. Sugar Creek Campground and Canoe Rentals runs canoe, kayak, and tube trips on Sugar Creek, and the creek is also a draw for fishing and wading with kids. Prophetstown State Park adds paved bike paths and hiking trails through restored tallgrass prairie, wetlands, and Wabash River frontage, plus a seasonal aquatic center with a tube slide, lazy river, and zero-entry activity pool. History sites cluster around Battle Ground and Lafayette. The Tippecanoe Battlefield Museum, The Farm at Prophetstown living-history site, and the Purdue University campus are all within about 15 miles of the park. Crawfordsville adds the Rotary Jail Museum and the General Lew Wallace Study, and Parke County's covered-bridge loop is a common day trip from any of the area campgrounds.

The practical camping season in central Indiana runs from mid-April through mid-October, with shoulder-season stays possible on either end. Crawfordsville KOA Journey is open year-round but runs with limited facilities from November 15 to April 15, and the camp store is closed during that stretch. Prophetstown State Park is open year-round, but water is typically turned off from November through mid-March or April, and full-hookup sites are winterized when weather turns severe. Late spring and summer are peak. Weekends fill quickly at Prophetstown, and full-hookup loops there tend to book out first. May brings some of the highest average rainfall to the Lafayette area, and thunderstorms are common from May through August. Sugar Creek paddling trips can be suspended when the creek runs high after heavy rain, though camping and cabin rentals continue. Fall shoulder season, roughly mid-September through late October, offers cooler nights, thinner crowds, and covered-bridge foliage in Parke County. Winter camping is possible at Prophetstown but expect frozen hydrants, reduced services, and closed modern restrooms at many loops.

Sites in this area skew RV-friendly. Prophetstown offers 55 full-hookup sites in the Spruce Loop and 55 electric-only sites in the Savannah Loop on level, gravel pads, with sites that can handle rigs up to 59 feet. The setting is restored prairie rather than woods, so shade is limited on many sites. Crawfordsville KOA has shaded pull-thrus with some 50-amp full-hookup pads that accommodate rigs up to 75 feet, plus a pool, playground, and game room, and sits just off I-74 for easy access. Expect humid summers, mosquitoes near creek and wetland sites, and afternoon thunderstorms. Cell coverage can be spotty inside Prophetstown. Bring layers in spring and fall: overnight lows can drop well below daytime highs. Pets are welcome at the listed campgrounds, with leash rules in effect, and the KOA offers a pet-walking service.
