Otterbein sits in west-central Indiana, roughly a half-hour drive northwest of Lafayette and within easy reach of the Wabash River corridor. The area serves as a practical base for RV travelers headed to Tippecanoe County parks, Purdue University events, and the farm country stretching toward the Illinois line. The closest full-service public campground is Prophetstown State Park, which offers 110 modern sites split between full-hookup and electric-only loops, with paved roads and ADA-accessible facilities suited to larger rigs. Private options in the surrounding countryside include Off the Trail Vacation Rentals & Campground, Big Fish-n-Camp Ground, Charlarose Lake and Campground, and Lost Acres RV Park, which round out choices for travelers who want fishing lakes, smaller sites, or longer stays. Most campgrounds in the region are reachable via US-52, I-65, and state highways, with flat terrain and well-maintained roads that make towing straightforward for drivers of any experience level.

Prophetstown State Park is reserved through the Indiana State Parks reservation system at camp.IN.gov, either online or by phone. Standard campsite reservations open up to six months in advance, and popular summer weekends often sell out well ahead. Sites are 100 percent reservable up to 11 p.m. on the day of arrival, so walk-up availability is not guaranteed. A vehicle entrance fee applies at Indiana state parks, with separate rates for in-state and out-of-state plates. Annual entrance passes are available for travelers planning multiple visits during the year. Private campgrounds nearby, including Off the Trail Vacation Rentals & Campground, Big Fish-n-Camp Ground, Charlarose Lake and Campground, and Lost Acres RV Park, are booked directly with each property. Policies on deposits, minimum stays, and cancellations vary, so confirm details before arrival.
