Campgrounds and RV parks near Ridgeville, IN

The biggest local draw is aviation. The International Aeromodeling Center in Muncie sits on more than 500 acres divided into six sites dedicated to Free Flight, Control Line, and Radio Control model aviation, and visitors can tour the AMA headquarters and the National Model Aviation Museum on the same property. Families staying at Adventure Bound Kamp Modoc have on-site attractions to fill a weekend: Adventure Island Water Park with lake inflatables, a swimming beach, a jump pad, a fishing pond, GaGa ball, playgrounds, and themed weekend events including Halloween weekends. In Muncie itself, the Cardinal Greenway rail-trail runs for about fifty miles and is easily reached from the Delaware County Indiana Fairgrounds. Minnetrista Museum and Gardens and Ball State University attractions round out the in-town options.

East-central Indiana has a four-season climate with hot, humid summers and cold, sometimes snowy winters. Most private campgrounds operate on a spring-through-fall calendar, and the AMA flying site closes to camping on November 1 each year. Adventure Bound Kamp Modoc runs its themed weekends and water activities through the camping season, with Halloween weekends extending the calendar into October. Late spring and early summer are the busiest booking window, especially weekends that overlap with major AMA events at the International Aeromodeling Center, including the Nats and world championship competitions. If the trip is timed to a specific event, book early. Peak family camping runs June through August. Winter camping is more limited but not impossible. The Delaware County Indiana Fairgrounds allows primitive camping through the winter months, with water services turned off from December to April. Indiana State Parks in the wider region also stay open year-round, with a narrower selection of reservable sites in the cold months.

Expect rural, low-density surroundings. Roads into the campgrounds are two-lane county highways, and cell coverage is generally reliable but not uniform. Sites at Adventure Bound Kamp Modoc range from primitive waterfront to full-hookup pull-throughs, with configurations that include premium waterview pull-thrus with 50-amp service, full-hookup water, electric, and sewer sites in both 30-amp and 50-amp, standard back-ins, tent sites with water and electric, and waterfront primitive sites. A fire ring and picnic table come with every site, and the resort is pet friendly. Fox Lake Campground offers a mix of pull-through and back-in RV sites arranged around a pond and swim beach, with tent sites available as well. The fairgrounds camping option is grassy, flat, and light on trees, with 50-amp service common. It is a practical overnight for travelers who want walkable access to Muncie rather than a resort experience.
