Campgrounds and RV parks near Catahoula, LA

Catahoula is an unincorporated community in St. Martin Parish, on the western edge of the Atchafalaya Basin between Lafayette and Breaux Bridge. RV travelers use it as a base for swamp tours, Cajun music, and access to Lake Fausse Pointe. The area sits at low elevation on flat terrain, with cypress-tupelo wetlands to the east and sugarcane country to the west. Most RV parks in the area cluster along the I-10 corridor near Breaux Bridge and Henderson, giving quick access to Lafayette dining and Baton Rouge day trips. Lake Fausse Pointe State Park sits approximately 18 miles northeast of St. Martinville on the West Atchafalaya Protection Levee Road, covering roughly 6,000 acres of former Chitimacha homeland. Nearby options include Cajun Heritage RV Park, Camp Margaritaville RV Resort Breaux Bridge, Cajun Palms RV Resort, and Bon Temps RV Park. The mix suits different travel styles: state-park sites for quiet paddling trips, and resort parks for families who want pools, activities, and full hookups within a short drive of Cajun towns.

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park is open year round. Reservations for state-park RV sites and cabins go through the Louisiana State Parks system at gooutdoorslouisiana.com or by calling the reservation center. Bookings can be made up to 13 months in advance and must be made at least 48 hours ahead. A non-refundable transaction fee is assessed on each reservation. For reservations made 10 to 13 months prior to arrival, the entire balance must be received within 30 days or the reservation will be cancelled. Private resorts such as Camp Margaritaville RV Resort Breaux Bridge, Cajun Palms RV Resort, Cajun Heritage RV Park, and Bon Temps RV Park book direct through each resort's website. Holiday weekends, Mardi Gras, and festival weekends sell out first, so lock in dates several months ahead.
