Campgrounds and RV parks near Morganza, LA

Morganza is a small village in Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana, set near the Mississippi River in the flat farmland between Baton Rouge and the Atchafalaya Basin. The area is best known as the site of the Morganza Spillway, a flood-control structure that has been opened only twice to divert Mississippi River water away from Baton Rouge and New Orleans. For RV travelers, the village serves as a quiet base for exploring Pointe Coupee, False River, and the surrounding bayou country. Campground options close to Morganza tend to be small, privately owned RV parks rather than large resorts or state-park loops. Maxey Care RV Park and Bayou Creek RV Park sit closest to the village itself, while Peaceful Pines RV Park and Campground, Westgate RV Park, and Stelly's Campground extend the search radius into neighboring communities. The region is flat, low-elevation, and heavily agricultural, with sugarcane fields, pecan orchards, and cypress-lined bayous shaping the landscape. False River, a 3,200-acre oxbow lake ten and a half miles long, is the parish's main recreational draw.

Private RV parks around Morganza, including Maxey Care RV Park, Bayou Creek RV Park, Peaceful Pines RV Park and Campground, Westgate RV Park, and Stelly's Campground, generally take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Many of these smaller parks host long-term and monthly guests, so calling ahead to confirm nightly availability is worthwhile, especially on weekends and during fishing tournaments on False River. For Louisiana State Parks in the wider region, reservations run through the state's central system. Bookings can be made up to 13 months to the day in advance online or by calling 1-833-609-0686, and weekend reservations require a two-night minimum. Reservations must be made at least 48 hours in advance through the central system; anything closer is handled by the individual park.
