Campgrounds and RV parks near Paulina, LA

Paulina sits on the east bank of the Mississippi River in St. James Parish, roughly halfway between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. The community is located on the east bank of the Mississippi in the eastern part of the parish, west of Lutcher and across the river from Vacherie. The area is unincorporated and rural, which keeps traffic light and puts RV travelers within easy reach of River Road plantation country and the surrounding River Parishes. The closest full-service option is Poche Plantation RV Resort Cottage in nearby Convent, a historic property with large concrete pads, shaded sites, and on-site amenities. It is under an hour from both New Orleans and Baton Rouge, which makes it a practical base for touring plantations along Louisiana's River Road. Additional RV parks in the surrounding River Parishes and Ascension Parish include Old River RV Park, Laplace Trailer- RV Park, Lamar Dixon Expo Center RV Park in Gonzales, and B and B RV Park. Together they cover the corridor along I-10 and LA-44, giving travelers flexible basing options for day trips into New Orleans, the Atchafalaya Basin, or the state capital.

Private RV parks in the River Parishes are booked directly with each property by phone or through their websites. Poche Plantation RV Resort Cottage takes RV reservations through its own office at the plantation in Convent, and the property is set up for big rigs on shaded concrete sites. Lamar Dixon Expo Center RV Park in Gonzales operates year-round but shares its grounds with a busy events calendar, so availability moves with the schedule. The office typically handles reservations on weekdays, so booking well ahead is smart during major shows, rodeos, and 4-H weekends. For Louisiana state parks in the wider region, reservations are handled through the state parks reservation system operated by Reserve America. Federal Corps of Engineers sites in the broader area use Recreation.gov.
