Campgrounds near Brookhaven, Mississippi
Brookhaven sits in Lincoln County along Interstate 55 in southwest Mississippi, roughly halfway between Jackson and the Louisiana state line. The area's campgrounds cluster around two state park lakes and the I-55 corridor, giving RV travelers a mix of full-hookup state park loops, a KOA stopover, and municipal RV parking within city limits.
Lincoln Civic Center RV Park sits inside Brookhaven itself and is the closest option to downtown, with 39 full-hookup sites offering 1,500 square feet each, concrete pads, water, sewer, and 20, 30, and 50 amp electric service. About 15 minutes north near Wesson, Lake Lincoln State Park has 71 campsites with concrete pads, split between 22 full-hookup sites in the east loop and 49 electric sites in the north loop, plus 14 primitive walk-in sites.
Farther south near McComb, Percy Quin State Park and McComb KOA serve travelers on I-55. Hidden Springs RV Resort rounds out the area's private-park choices for longer stays.
Things to do around Brookhaven
Water recreation drives most trip plans. The 550-acre Lake Lincoln supports jet skiing, swimming, fishing, boating, and beachcombing, and Lake Lincoln State Park adds a swimming beach, picnic shelters, a nature trail, playground, volleyball court, and disc golf. Lake Tangipahoa at Percy Quin State Park is popular with anglers and offers a boat launch, marina, and fish cleaning area.
Golfers can play the 18-hole Quail Hollow Championship Course at Percy Quin, a public course designed by Arthur Hills that opened in 1996 and measures 6,754 yards from the longest tees. Hiking trails loop through loblolly pine and magnolia woods with chances to see deer and waterfowl. Downtown Brookhaven offers shops and restaurants for a break from the campground.

Southwest Mississippi has a humid subtropical climate with mild winters, hot humid summers, and rain in every month. Spring, from March to May, and autumn, from September to November, are the most comfortable stretches for RV camping, with daytime highs generally in the high 60s to low 80s Fahrenheit and lower humidity than the summer months.
Summer is hot and busy. RV sites at Lake Lincoln State Park are typically packed to capacity during the peak camping season between mid-May and mid-August, and May through October is Percy Quin's peak season, with annual events including Camp Sunshine and the MS Tour for Cure. Reserving lakefront and full-hookup sites well ahead is essential for summer weekends.
Winter stays mild enough for RV camping, though it is the wettest part of the year, with January and December averaging around six inches of rain. Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November and can bring heavy rain and wind inland to the region.
How to book campgrounds near Brookhaven
Mississippi state parks use a central reservation system operated by MDWFP. Reservations for Lake Lincoln State Park and Percy Quin State Park can be made up to 12 months in advance through reserve.mdwfp.com or by calling the park office. Primitive sites at both parks are first-come, first-serve. Cabins and cottages at Lake Lincoln also book through the same system, but pets are not allowed inside them.
McComb KOA books through the KOA website or app, with confirmation emails carrying the gate code for after-hours arrival. Lincoln Civic Center RV Park is managed locally and takes daily, weekly, and monthly stays, with a drop box near the bathhouse for late-night check-in. Hidden Springs RV Resort takes direct reservations by phone or through its own website.
What to expect on arrival
Sites in the state parks are built for larger rigs. Lake Lincoln accommodates RVs up to 82 feet in length, while Percy Quin's 102 sites are limited to about 40 feet and are all full hook-up with 50, 30, and 20 amp electric, water, and sewer. Twenty of the Percy Quin sites are lakefront premium spots, and campground roads and pads are paved. Four bathhouses with hot showers serve the loop, and a dump station sits near the campground entrance.
Expect thick summer humidity and biting insects, so pack repellent. Cell service is limited around Percy Quin, with both AT&T and Verizon showing weak signals in reviews. Pets must stay leashed and are not permitted inside cabins or park buildings at Mississippi state parks.
