Campgrounds and RV parks near Cloverdale, MS

Fishing is a major draw. Natchez Lake is well stocked with catfish, bream, and largemouth bass, and became a hot spot for bass fishermen when the Mississippi record largemouth, at 18.15 pounds, was caught in the lake in 1992. A Mississippi fishing license is required for anglers between ages sixteen and sixty-five. Beyond the water, the park offers disc golf, picnic areas, playgrounds, and nature trails, and hunting is permitted in season, so campers should check signage before hiking. In downtown Natchez, families can tour preserved antebellum homes, walk the bluff overlooking the Mississippi River, and pick up the Natchez Trace Parkway for scenic day drives with pull-offs and short walks.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV camping near Cloverdale. Daytime highs sit in a comfortable range from March through May and again in October and November, with rainfall generally between 100 and 143 millimeters per month, and both seasons align with the Natchez spring and fall pilgrimage home tours, which drive up demand at nearby campgrounds. Summer is hot and humid. July in Natchez is typically hot and humid, with highs around 91 degrees Fahrenheit, the highest of any month, and afternoon thunderstorms are common. Natchez Lake and shaded sites help, but heat and biting insects are real factors for tent campers and anyone without a working RV air conditioner. Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with peak activity in late summer and early fall; inland Cloverdale is buffered from direct coastal impact but can still see heavy rain and wind from tropical systems. Winters are short and generally mild. Natchez State Park is open year round, though cabin availability may be limited during renovations, so calling ahead is wise.

Expect wooded settings at most nearby campgrounds, with level pads and typical Southern-park amenities. Natchez State Park offers fifty developed RV campsites, each with a picnic table, grill, water, and electrical hookups at 50, 30, and 20 amp; sites 1 through 6 are full hookup, the remaining sites are water and electric only, and both campgrounds share a central sewage dump station, bathhouses with hot showers, and coin-operated laundry. Generators are not allowed anywhere in the park unless prior approval is given by the park manager. Privately run parks along US-61, such as Plantation RV Park and The Joshua on HWY 61, more commonly offer full hookups including sewer at every site, and River View RV Park And Resort adds resort-style amenities on the Louisiana side of the river. Cell coverage is generally reliable near Natchez but can drop off in the wooded interior of the state park. Pets must be restrained on a leash not more than six feet long.
