Campgrounds and RV parks near De Kalb, MS

De Kalb sits in Kemper County in east-central Mississippi, roughly a half-hour drive north of Meridian and close to the Alabama state line. The town itself has limited RV infrastructure, so most travelers base themselves at parks clustered around the Meridian metro area and along the Interstate 20/59 corridor to the south. The closest full-service option is Okatibbee Water Park, a Pat Harrison Waterway District park set on Okatibbee Lake northwest of Meridian. It offers developed camping spurs with 30 and 50 amp electric, water, and sewer connections in a wooded setting near the lakeshore. Other nearby choices include Hill Country Community, a motorhome-oriented park, and Benchmark RV Park, both within reasonable driving distance for supply runs into Meridian. For interstate travelers, Meridian East / Toomsuba KOA Journey sits just off I-20/59 at Exit 165 and is the easiest big-rig approach in the area. Burnside Lake Park rounds out the list for anglers looking for a smaller, water-focused stop.

Reservation systems vary by operator. Okatibbee Water Park is managed by the Pat Harrison Waterway District, and bookings are handled through the district rather than Recreation.gov. Campsite check-in is 4:00 p.m., and cabin check-out is 11:00 a.m. Contact the park directly to confirm site availability, especially for holiday weekends. Meridian East / Toomsuba KOA Journey uses the standard KOA reservation system at koa.com or by phone. Cancellation terms and any administrative fees are set by KOA and should be reviewed at the time of booking. Smaller operators such as Hill Country Community, Benchmark RV Park, and Burnside Lake Park generally take reservations by phone. For summer weekends and fall event dates in Meridian, booking four to eight weeks ahead is advisable.
