Along the Natchez Trace Parkway, Jeff Busby Campground - Natchez Trace Parkway is the trailhead for the Little Mountain Trail, a short 1.6-mile loop that reaches one of the highest points in Mississippi. Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV travel in this part of Mississippi. Temperatures are mild, mosquitoes are lighter, and campgrounds along the Natchez Trace Parkway are typically busiest during spring and fall, especially during holiday weekends. Weekend arrivals at first-come sites like Jeff Busby should target early Friday afternoons, since turnover is high but sites can fill. Summer brings heat, humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms. Grenada Lake stays busy with holiday boaters, and shaded sites at wooded campgrounds are worth requesting. Water levels shift with the season: because Grenada Lake is a flood control reservoir operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, on July 1 the water level starts dropping in anticipation of the winter rains, and on January 1 it starts a slow rise back to recreation pool level. Winter is the quietest stretch. Many boat launch ramps are inoperable during this time, though low water ramps remain useable and swimming beaches stay open. Hugh White State Park and Jeff Busby stay open year round, while smaller private parks may reduce services.

Expect a mix of full-service RV parks and rustic public campgrounds. Private parks along I-55, such as Frog Hollow Campground- RV Park, typically offer full hookups, level pads, and easy highway access, with some road noise from the interstate. Hugh White State Park - Outlet Channel provides electric campsites, and all campers should bring at least 30 feet of extension cord to reach some campsite pedestals. Jeff Busby Campground - Natchez Trace Parkway is primitive. The campground has 18 sites in a mix of pull-through and back-in configurations, with no hookups and no dump station. Potable water is available but is turned off in winter. Maximum total RV length on the Parkway is 55 feet, and not all sites will accommodate big rigs. Cell coverage is generally reliable near I-55 and thinner along the Trace. Bring insect repellent, especially from late spring through early fall.
