Campgrounds and RV parks near Hermanville, MS

Hermanville sits in rural Claiborne County in southwest Mississippi, roughly an hour south of Jackson and a short drive from Port Gibson and Vicksburg. The area is best known as a mile-marker stretch of the Natchez Trace Parkway, and most RV travellers arrive as part of a longer Trace road trip between Nashville and Natchez. Rocky Springs Campground on the Natchez Trace Parkway sits at milepost 54.8, about an hour south of Jackson, and is a small 22-site campground open year-round. A few miles west, Grand Gulf Military Monument Park is located eight miles northwest of Port Gibson off Highway 61 and includes Fort Cobun and Fort Wade, a cemetery, a museum, picnic areas, hiking trails, an observation tower, and several restored buildings. For RVers who need full hookups, private options in the surrounding towns include River Town Campground, Rivertown Rose Campground, and Quilly's Magnolia RV Park. Together these give travellers a mix of primitive Parkway camping, a historic county park with hookups, and standard commercial RV parks within easy reach of Hermanville.

Reservation rules vary sharply by property. Rocky Springs Campground at milepost 54.8 does not offer reservations through Recreation.gov. The Natchez Trace Parkway campgrounds are free, primitive, and available on a first come, first served basis. Maximum stay is 14 days per calendar year. Grand Gulf Military Monument Park works differently. It is a county-run park where reservations are handled by calling the office directly during business hours rather than through an online portal. Staff lock the entrance gate each evening around 5 p.m., providing the combination to registered campers arriving later. Private parks such as River Town Campground, Rivertown Rose Campground, and Quilly's Magnolia RV Park generally take reservations by phone or through their own websites, and booking ahead is wise on spring and fall weekends.
