April is typically the wettest month, so expect thunderstorm days mixed with clear ones, and check reservoir levels before launching a boat. Summer is the peak booking season at reservoir campgrounds, and Goshen Springs Campground frequently fills for weekends and fishing tournaments. Highs in the low 90s with high humidity are normal from June through August, so shaded or full-hookup sites with 50-amp service for air conditioning are worth prioritizing. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, and the Neshoba County Fair week around Philadelphia pushes local demand higher. Fall brings cooler nights and the driest stretch of the year, particularly in October. Winter camping is possible: freezes occur but are usually brief, and Holmes County State Park stays open year-round. Confirm seasonal hours and any renovation closures with the operator before arrival.
