Campgrounds and RV parks near Sardis, MS

Sardis Lake and neighboring Enid Lake are the main draws. Both hold strong populations of crappie, largemouth bass, and catfish, and John W Kyle State Park has boat ramps, a swimming pool, and the Mallard Pointe Golf Course along the shoreline. A Mississippi fishing license is required for anglers between 16 and 65. Front - Wall Doxey State Park adds a spring-fed swim lake, a 2.5-mile nature trail circling the water, and two 18-hole disc golf courses, Spring Creek and Turkey Hollow. George P Cossar State Park runs its own 18-hole disc golf and miniature golf courses, plus direct boat access to Enid Lake and hunting on adjoining Holly Springs National Forest land. For off-water days, Sardis makes a workable launch point for Oxford, the Ole Miss campus, and Memphis attractions to the north.

Peak camping season on Sardis Lake runs from late spring through early fall, with the busiest stretch spanning Memorial Day through Labor Day. Waterfront sites at John W Kyle State Park and George P Cossar State Park fill quickly on summer weekends, and Ole Miss home football weekends in the fall drive a second surge of demand within roughly 25 miles of campus. Spring and fall bring the most comfortable weather for RV travel, with mild days and cool nights, though spring thunderstorms are common and Enid and Sardis are flood-control reservoirs whose levels rise and fall with rainfall. Lake levels are managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and can shift shoreline access between visits. Enid Lake goes through a seasonal drawdown from mid-summer into late fall, exposing additional shoreline. Winter is quiet but usable. The state parks in the area stay open year round, though some loops, such as the Jones Creek section at George P Cossar State Park, operate seasonally and close in cooler months.

Expect wooded, lakeside layouts at the state parks. John W Kyle State Park offers 100 developed sites with water and electric hookups, a bathhouse, a laundry facility, and a central sewage dump station on the lower lake. George P Cossar State Park has 76 developed sites split between the year-round Yocona Ridge loop, with 35 waterfront pads, and the seasonal Jones Creek loop. Front - Wall Doxey State Park provides modernized water and electric sites with a dump station, plus a primitive tent area in a separate wooded section, and accommodates rigs up to about 40 feet. Cell service generally reaches most of these campgrounds, but park Wi-Fi is not provided. Pets are not allowed inside cabins or park buildings, and smoking is prohibited in Mississippi state park buildings.
