Campgrounds and RV parks near Scooba, MS

Scooba sits in Kemper County in east-central Mississippi, roughly 25 miles north of Meridian and a short drive from the Alabama line. It is a small college town, home to East Mississippi Community College, surrounded by piney woods, rolling hills, and small lakes typical of the region. RV travelers usually base themselves here to break up a run along I-20/59 or U.S. 45, or to explore the lakes and parks that ring Meridian. Options closest to town lean toward practical highway stops. Hill Country Community and Benchmark RV Park serve travelers wanting a straightforward hookup site, while Meridian East / Toomsuba KOA Journey sits just off I-20/59 at Exit 165 with pull-through RV sites and cabins under tall pines. For a lake-based trip, Okatibbee Water Park on the 3,800-acre Okatibbee Lake reservoir northwest of Meridian offers full-hookup RV camping on the water, and Burnside Lake Park near Philadelphia provides a smaller, quieter public-park setting on an oxbow of the Pearl River with electric and water sites.

Private parks in the area, including Meridian East / Toomsuba KOA Journey, Benchmark RV Park, and Hill Country Community, take direct reservations by phone or through their websites. The KOA also accepts bookings via the KOA app and rewards program. Okatibbee Water Park is operated by the Pat Harrison Waterway District; short stays of two to four nights can typically be booked up to three months ahead, while stays of five nights or more can be booked up to a year out with a deposit. Burnside Lake Park is run by the Philadelphia-Neshoba County Park Commission and is generally booked by calling the park office. For Mississippi state parks in the wider region, reservations can be made up to 13 months in advance through the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks reservation system at reserve.mdwfp.com. Summer weekends, holiday weekends, and any dates overlapping the Neshoba County Fair in Philadelphia fill fastest, so lock in early.
