Campgrounds and RV parks near Standing Pine, MS

Standing Pine is a small community in Leake County in central Mississippi, roughly an hour northeast of Jackson and within easy driving range of the Ross Barnett Reservoir, Bienville National Forest, and the Pat Harrison Waterway District parks. It sits inside one of the communities of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians Reservation, and the surrounding landscape is rolling pine and hardwood forest cut by the Pearl River and its tributaries. RV travelers usually base themselves at reservoir and state-agency campgrounds within a short drive. Low Head Dam is a Pearl River Valley Water Supply District site on the upper Pearl above the reservoir, while Frog Level RV Park and Burnside Lake Park offer nearby options. Farther out, Turkey Creek Water Park sits on a 250-acre lake near Decatur, and RO Hannah at Roosevelt State Park anchors one of the state's newly renovated RV campgrounds. The area suits families looking for lake access, fishing, and short drives between camps, restaurants in Carthage, and the Choctaw-run attractions near Philadelphia.

Roosevelt State Park uses the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks reservation system at reserve.mdwfp.com, or reservations can be made by phone with the park office. The park has 110 renovated RV sites with full hookups and 30 or 50-amp service, split between the R.O. Hannah loop (sites 1 to 42) and the CCC loop (sites 43 to 109). All sites are back-in with a 40-foot length limit, and waterfront pads in R.O. Hannah go fastest. Low Head Dam and the other Ross Barnett Reservoir campgrounds are operated by the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District; rules, rates, and site information are published at therez.ms.gov. Turkey Creek Water Park bookings run through the Pat Harrison Waterway District at phwd.net. Frog Level RV Park and Burnside Lake Park take reservations directly with the operator. Book several weeks out for holiday weekends and any lakefront pad.
