Campgrounds and RV parks near Union, MS

Union sits in Newton County in east-central Mississippi, roughly halfway between Meridian and the Pearl River Resort area near Philadelphia. The town is a practical base for RV travelers because it is within about a half hour of several public and private campgrounds along the Pascagoula and Pearl river basins, and it is a short drive from Interstate 20. Most overnight options nearby are lakeside water parks run by the Pat Harrison Waterway District, a Mississippi state agency that operates nine water parks with RV sites, cabins, boat launches, and swim areas across east-central and southeastern Mississippi. Turkey Creek Water Park is the closest of these, sitting on a 250-acre lake about five miles southwest of Decatur, while Okatibbee Water Park sits on the much larger Okatibbee Lake reservoir northwest of Meridian. Private and county options round out the mix. Frog Level RV Park in Philadelphia offers concrete pull-through sites near Pearl River Resort, Burnside Lake Park sits northeast of Philadelphia, and Chunky River Recreation combines a small riverside campground with a paddling outfitter on the Chunky River.

Pat Harrison Waterway District parks, including Turkey Creek Water Park and Okatibbee Water Park, are reserved directly through PHWD rather than Recreation.gov. Stays of two to four nights can be booked up to three months in advance with full payment due within 14 days. Stays of five or more nights can be booked up to one year out with a three-night deposit due within 14 days and the remaining balance due 30 days before arrival. Any reservation made within 30 days of arrival must be paid in full by cash, money order, or credit card. Corps of Engineers sites at Okatibbee Lake, specifically Twiltley Branch Campground, are listed on Recreation.gov. Private and county parks such as Frog Level RV Park, Chunky River Recreation, and Burnside Lake Park are booked by phone directly with each park.
