Campgrounds and RV parks near Wesson, MS

Water recreation drives most trips. Lake Lincoln State Park has a swimming beach, boat launch, and fishing on the 550-acre lake, plus a nature trail through loblolly pine and hardwood forest, a disc golf course, and a playground. Percy Quin State Park adds boating, waterskiing, and fishing on nearly 500-acre Lake Tangipahoa, a seasonal junior Olympic swimming pool, lighted tennis courts, an archery range, and the 18-hole Quail Hollow golf course with a driving range and pro shop. Off-park options include the historic downtowns of Brookhaven and McComb, both a short drive from Wesson, and easy day trips north to Jackson or south to the New Orleans metro area. Percy Quin also hosts group and family events on Lake Tangipahoa through the warmer months.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV travel around Wesson. From March through May and again from late September into November, daytime temperatures are mild, humidity is lower, and campgrounds at Lake Lincoln and Percy Quin see steady but manageable weekend demand. Wildflowers and dogwoods bloom through the state-park trails in early spring, and fall brings the lightest rainfall of the year, with October the driest month. Summer is hot, humid, and wet. August is the wettest month in nearby McComb, and afternoon thunderstorms are routine from June through August. Lake swimming, the seasonal pool at Percy Quin, and shaded hardwood sites make the heat workable, but bookings peak around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends. Winter is short and mild. Daytime highs typically reach the upper 50s to low 60s Fahrenheit, hard freezes are limited, and both Lake Lincoln State Park and Percy Quin State Park remain open year-round for camping, though some services and the swimming pool run on reduced seasonal schedules.

Expect paved concrete pads at the state parks. Lake Lincoln offers 71 sites across two loops: 22 full-hookup lakefront sites on the east loop and 49 electric sites on the north loop, a few of which also have full hookups. Sites are large enough to accommodate rigs up to 82 feet, and bathhouses, laundry, a playground, and a dump station are on site. Percy Quin has 102 full-hookup RV sites with 20, 30, and 50 amp service, 20 of which are lakefront premium sites, plus 50 primitive tent sites, cabins, and motel-style rooms, all set in a wooded area overlooking Lake Tangipahoa. Roads and pads are paved, and internal loops can be narrow. Fireworks, portable generators, and metal detectors are prohibited in Mississippi state park campgrounds, and pets are not allowed inside cabins, motels, or park buildings. Cell service can be weak inside Percy Quin. The KOA and private RV parks near I-55 lean toward pull-through convenience for overnight travelers.
