Campgrounds and RV parks near Woodville, MS

The signature outing is Clark Creek Natural Area, about 13 miles west of Woodville off Mississippi Highway 24. The 700-acre preserve holds around 50 waterfalls with drops up to 30 feet, connected by rugged trails through steep loess bluffs. Camping and motorized vehicles are not allowed inside the natural area, so it works as a day trip from a nearby RV park. In town, Woodville's historic district includes early 19th-century churches, the Wilkinson County Courthouse, and Rosemont Plantation, the family home of Jefferson Davis, a short drive out. A 40-minute drive north on U.S. 61 reaches Natchez, one of the oldest settlements on the Mississippi River, with antebellum home tours, the southern terminus of the Natchez Trace Parkway, and bluff views over the river. Homochitto National Forest adds lake swimming, fishing, and mountain-bike trails.

Spring and fall are the practical windows for RV travel around Woodville. March through May brings warm days, wildflowers, and stronger waterfall flow at Clark Creek after rain, but it is also a wet stretch, with frequent thunderstorms. October and November are drier and cooler, and line up with Natchez's Fall Pilgrimage home-tour season, which can tighten RV availability in Natchez-area parks. Summer is long, hot, and humid, with daytime highs near 90 F and heavy afternoon storms. August is typically the wettest month in the Natchez area and also overlaps peak Atlantic hurricane season, which can bring remnant tropical systems inland. Trails at Clark Creek get slick and buggy, so early starts help. Winter is short and mild. Highs generally sit in the upper 50s, hard freezes are uncommon, and most private RV parks in the Woodville and Natchez corridor stay open year-round. Deer and small-game hunting seasons run through fall and winter on nearby public lands.

This is rural, wooded southwest Mississippi. Private parks near Woodville tend to be small, quiet, and hookup-focused rather than amenity-heavy, with a mix of pull-through and back-in sites and 30 and 50-amp service common. Several operators lean toward extended stays and long-term guests, so nightly availability can be tight. Cell coverage is spotty once you leave U.S. 61, especially around Clark Creek and inside the Homochitto National Forest, so download maps before heading out. Stock groceries in Woodville or Natchez, since options are limited in the forest. Expect humidity, biting insects in the warmer months, and slick trails after rain. Sturdy closed-toe shoes help at Clark Creek, and flash-flood risk is real during heavy downpours.
