Campgrounds and RV parks near Cave Junction, OR

Cave Junction sits in Oregon's Illinois Valley in the southwest corner of the state, where the Siskiyou Mountains form a transition zone between Oregon and Northern California. The town is the main service hub on Highway 199, the Redwood Highway that connects Interstate 5 at Grants Pass to Highway 101 on the California coast, making it a practical RV base for trips to Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve, the Illinois and Rogue Rivers, and the Redwoods. RV options cluster along the Highway 199 corridor and the Illinois River. Cave Junction KOA bills itself as the closest full-service RV park to Oregon Caves, while Laughing Alpaca Campground RV Park offers full-hookup riverfront sites on the Illinois River. Lone Mountain RV Resort, Smoke on the Water Resort, and Country Hills Resort round out the nearby private parks, giving renters a mix of pull-throughs, big-rig sites, and tent space. Oregon Caves itself has no on-site RV camping, so most renters stage in Cave Junction and day-trip up Highway 46 to the monument.

Private RV parks around Cave Junction take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Cave Junction KOA uses the KOA reservation system, and Laughing Alpaca Campground RV Park, Lone Mountain RV Resort, Smoke on the Water Resort, and Country Hills Resort handle bookings independently. For summer weekends, sites can fill weeks ahead, especially around the Fourth of July and Labor Day. For the national monument, Cave Creek Campground at Oregon Caves takes reservations through Recreation.gov during its Memorial Day to Labor Day season. The campground is tent-oriented with a 20-foot vehicle length limit and no hookups, showers, or trash service. Cave tours at the monument are also booked separately through Recreation.gov and routinely sell out in summer, so book tours and a campsite together.
