Valley Of The Rogue State Park provides a large, year-round state-run campground a short drive south along Interstate 5, and Medford / Gold Hill KOA Journey offers a family-oriented private park nearby. Things to do near Wimer
The Rogue River is the area's main draw. Anglers target steelhead and salmon, and jet boat tours and whitewater rafting operate out of Grants Pass during the warm months. Swimming holes and tubing spots are common along Evans Creek and the Rogue itself.
Valley Of The Rogue State Park has a self-guided interpretive trail along the river that connects to the Rogue River Greenway, a mostly paved path suitable for walking and biking. The historic Wimer covered bridge sits in town, and Evans Creek Road leads north into BLM and Forest Service land popular with OHV riders.
Within day-trip range, families can visit Crater Lake National Park, Oregon Caves National Monument, the Britt Music Festival venue in Jacksonville, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland.

Winter is mild but wet by Oregon standards. Valley Of The Rogue State Park stays open year-round, as does Medford / Gold Hill KOA Journey, though seasonal amenities like swimming pools close. Higher elevations near Crater Lake see heavy snow, and mountain access roads may be closed.

The process to rent Bryan's Travel Trailer via RVezy was smooth and without surprises. Bryan responded promptly to any questions on our part. Appreciated the un-eventful process of Bryan delivering the trailer, hooking it up to electrical/water, walking us thru the trailer amenities, and picking up the trailer at the end of the rental. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. Looking forward to renting from Bryan during next year's retreat. Thank-You Bryan!

I was really happy with Ismael’s CS. He was flexible and adapted to changes on my trip. He was patient to explain all the details to work his RV. This was highly appreciated since I am a retired widow and first experience renting an RV. Thank you Ismael. Your flexibility was highly appreciated.

How to book campgrounds near Wimer
Valley Of The Rogue State Park is reserved through the Oregon State Parks reservation system. The standard booking window opens up to six months in advance, with new dates released daily at 6 a.m. Pacific, and summer weekends and yurts typically go fast on release day. Some sites are held for same-day online booking, but availability in peak season should not be counted on.
Medford / Gold Hill KOA Journey is booked directly through the KOA website or call center, with discounts available to KOA Rewards members. Bridgeview RV Park, Cypress Grove RV Park, and Riverpark RV Resort are private parks that typically take reservations by phone or through their own websites.
For summer trips, book two to three months ahead. Weekday arrivals offer more flexibility than weekends.
What to expect on the ground
Roads into Wimer are paved and easy for RVs of most sizes. Use Evans Creek Road as the main route north toward dispersed camping rather than narrow side roads. Cell reception is limited in the canyons north of town and along the Wild and Scenic stretch of the Rogue.
Valley Of The Rogue State Park sits directly next to Interstate 5, so highway noise is noticeable. The KOA in Gold Hill and the private RV parks closer to the river are quieter but more developed, with full hookups, laundry, and showers. Most sites accommodate big rigs.
Bears are present in the surrounding forest, so food should be stored inside the RV or in hard-sided containers. Check current fire restrictions before arrival, especially from July through September.
