RV camping near Bevil Oaks, Texas
Bevil Oaks is a small city in Jefferson County along Pine Island Bayou, about 12 miles northwest of Beaumont in the Golden Triangle region of Southeast Texas. RV travelers use it as a quiet base for exploring the Neches River corridor, the Big Thicket, and Gulf Coast destinations within easy driving distance.
The closest developed campground is Hilltop at Village Creek State Park, on the edge of the Big Thicket National Preserve near Lumberton, roughly 10 to 14 miles north of Beaumont. Village Creek is one of the few free-flowing creeks in Texas, and the park offers water and electric RV sites plus walk-in tent sites, a cabin, and a group site.
Additional options within a short drive include Gulf Coast RV Resort, Mobile Manor R.V. Park and Parts, Hidden Lake RV Resort, and Beaumont RV Park and Marina. These private parks serve travelers who want full hookups, longer stays, or waterfront access closer to Beaumont, while Village Creek suits those focused on paddling and hiking.
Things to do near Bevil Oaks
The main draw is water. Village Creek State Park anchors the 21-mile Village Creek Paddling Trail, which has multiple access points for trips ranging from a short paddle to a full-day float. The park has a canoe launch, and the sandy-bottomed creek is popular for wading and swimming, currently redirected to the canoe launch area while the main swim beach is closed for flood repairs.
On land, Village Creek offers about 8 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails through Big Thicket habitat, including the family-friendly Lil' Paws Nature Trail and the longer Water Oak and Village Creek trails. Rangers run guided programs and Junior Ranger activities.
Beyond the state park, visitors head to the Big Thicket National Preserve for additional hiking and wildlife viewing, and drive into Beaumont for museums, restaurants, and shopping.

Prescribed burns are planned between October and June and can cause temporary trail or area closures, with smoke sometimes affecting nearby sites.

How to book campgrounds near Bevil Oaks
Hilltop and other sites at Village Creek State Park are reserved through the Texas State Parks reservation system on the Texas Parks and Wildlife website, operated on the ReserveAmerica platform. Camping and lodging can be booked up to five months in advance on a rolling basis, opening at 8 a.m. Central Time, and popular weekends fill quickly. A daily entrance fee applies in addition to the site fee, and day passes open about 30 days out.
Group sites and the pavilion at Village Creek can also be booked by phone through the state parks customer service center. Private parks such as Gulf Coast RV Resort, Mobile Manor R.V. Park and Parts, Hidden Lake RV Resort, and Beaumont RV Park and Marina are booked directly with the operator.
What to expect on the ground
Village Creek State Park has 25 RV sites with water and electric hookups that accommodate rigs up to 65 feet, 16 walk-in tent-only sites, one cabin, and one group site. Facilities include showers, flush toilets, a dump station, a playground, a canoe launch, a picnic pavilion, and a nature center. Following past flood damage, the swim beach and a couple of campsites remain closed, with swimming redirected to the canoe launch area, so confirm site status before arrival.
Insect repellent is essential in the Big Thicket, especially spring through fall. Cell service is generally usable but can be variable under the tree canopy.
Private RV parks in the surrounding Beaumont area typically offer full hookups, longer pull-throughs, laundry, and easier access to grocery stores and fuel than the state park.

beaumontcvb.com/hotels/camping-rv/Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Bevil Oaks, Texas?
Good news: a regular Class C Texas driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Bevil Oaks, even for big Class A motorhomes and large fifth wheels. Texas does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for personal-use RVs. You'll need to be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and ID verification happens right through the platform during checkout, so there's no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. Most first-time renters in Bevil Oaks are surprised how quick the whole process is.
txdmv.gov/motorists/driver-licensesWhat protection is included with my Bevil Oaks RV rental?
Every RV rental in Bevil Oaks booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Highway 105 with real peace of mind. The protection plan helps cover damage to the RV during your trip and gives you meaningful financial protection if something unexpected happens. During checkout you choose from RVezy protection tiers based on the coverage level you want, the host does not pick this for you. That means whether you are heading to Village Creek State Park or the Bolivar Peninsula, you are covered from the moment you pull away.

Booking is low-risk: RVezy, not the host, sets the cancellation policy, and there is a grace period right after booking so you can lock in your Bevil Oaks RV trip with confidence. Refund eligibility depends on how far out you cancel relative to your trip start date. Because the cancellation policy is managed at the platform level, you will not see it set individually on each listing. If your plans shift, reach out to RVezy support and they will walk you through your options before your trip starts.

Absolutely, plenty of pet-friendly RV rentals in Bevil Oaks welcome your four-legged co-pilot. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see hosts who allow dogs (and sometimes cats) right in their listing. Bevil Oaks is surrounded by dog-friendly outdoor spots: Cattail Marsh Scenic Wetlands inside Tyrrell Park in Beaumont has wide boardwalks great for leashed pups, and Village Creek State Park about 20 miles north allows leashed pets on all trails and campsites. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and bring a portable shade tarp, since Southeast Texas humidity is no joke for dogs.

tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/village-creekWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Bevil Oaks?

weather.gov/lch/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Bevil Oaks?
You'll do great, Bevil Oaks is one of the easiest places in Texas to learn. The roads are flat, wide, and mostly rural, with Highway 105 and FM 1131 offering low-traffic practice routes before you tackle I-10. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering the propane, water, slide-outs, generator, and dump procedures, and you can text or call them anytime during your trip. If you're nervous about driving, book a Class B campervan or small Class C motorhome for your first time renting an RV, or choose a host who offers delivery so you barely have to move it. Most first-timers are cruising confidently by day two.
txdot.gov/safety/driving-laws.htmlWhat happens if something goes wrong on the road during my Bevil Oaks RV trip?
You are never stranded: every RVezy booking in Bevil Oaks comes with 24/7 roadside assistance included with the protection plan. Flat tire on Highway 105? Battery died at Village Creek State Park? One phone call gets you a tow, jump, tire change, or fuel delivery anywhere in Southeast Texas. Your host is also just a message away in the RVezy app to help troubleshoot anything from the AC to the awning, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after every trip. Pro tip: snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate at pickup so you can share details fast if you ever need help.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Bevil Oaks RV rental across state lines or into Louisiana?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome on most Bevil Oaks RV rentals, and you are perfectly positioned for it: the Louisiana border is only about 30 miles east on I-10, with Lake Charles about 55 miles away and New Orleans roughly 255 miles east. Popular RV road trips from Bevil Oaks include heading west to Houston and the Texas Hill Country, north to Lake Sam Rayburn and the Piney Woods, or east into Cajun Country. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Confirm cross-state plans in your booking message so the host knows your route and any mileage details are settled upfront.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I expect?
Realistic numbers for a Bevil Oaks RV trip: Class C motorhomes average 8-10 MPG, Class A motorhomes 6-8 MPG, Class B campervans 18-22 MPG, and trucks towing travel trailers 10-14 MPG. Texas gas prices typically run lower than the national average, with stations along Highway 105 and I-10 in Beaumont among the cheapest you'll find on your route. For a 500-mile loop through Big Thicket, the Gulf Coast, and back, budget roughly $150-$250 in fuel for a mid-size Class C. Pro tip: the Buc-ee's in Baytown (45 minutes west) has great prices, clean restrooms, and is an unofficial RV traveler's pit stop.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Bevil Oaks?
For most of the year, 2-4 weeks ahead is plenty for RV camping near Bevil Oaks, but Texas State Parks like Village Creek and Sea Rim should be booked 1-3 months out for holiday weekends and spring break. Texas State Parks use the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system, which opens campsite bookings up to 5 months in advance. Private parks like Hidden Lake RV Park and Beaumont KOA usually have more last-minute availability and can often be booked online or by phone the day before. Pro tip: snag a Texas State Parks Pass ($70/year) and you'll skip the daily entry fee everywhere you stay.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-information/reservationsWhat are local driving conditions like around Bevil Oaks?
Driving an RV around Bevil Oaks is refreshingly easy: terrain is flat, roads are wide, and the main artery (Highway 105) handles big rigs all day long. Your only real watch-outs are summer thunderstorms (which can drop visibility fast on I-10 between Beaumont and Houston), low-hanging Spanish moss and oak branches on rural roads like Sweetgum Lane, and hurricane-season weather alerts from June through November. Avoid driving large Class A motorhomes through downtown Beaumont's older neighborhoods where some bridges have 11-12 foot clearances. Pro tip: keep an eye on the National Weather Service Lake Charles office forecast, they cover the Bevil Oaks area and post excellent travel advisories.
drivetexas.org/How do I manage Southeast Texas heat and humidity in an RV?
Beating Bevil Oaks heat is doable with a smart setup. Almost every RV listing in the area comes with rooftop air conditioning rated for the Gulf Coast, and many hosts offer generators (often as an add-on) so you can run AC at dry-camping spots like Sea Rim State Park. Book full-hookup sites with 50-amp service at parks like East Lucas RV Park or Hidden Lake RV Park to power dual ACs without tripping breakers. Drive in the morning to avoid afternoon thunderstorms, and park with your awning facing east to shade the RV by 2 PM. Pro tip: shoulder seasons (October-November and March-April) deliver perfect 70s F weather and lower nightly rates.
weather.gov/lch/What amenities will my Bevil Oaks rental RV come with?
Most RVs you'll find for rent in Bevil Oaks are fully equipped for comfortable Gulf Coast travel: queen or king beds, a full kitchen with stove, oven, microwave and fridge, a wet bath or full bathroom with shower, rooftop AC, propane heat, and seatbelted seats for safe travel. Class C motorhomes and larger fifth wheels often add TVs, outdoor speakers, and Wi-Fi boosters. Generators, solar, and outdoor kitchens are common in this region thanks to the heat. Each listing has a detailed amenities checklist with photos, so you'll know exactly what's onboard. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps 6+ for a family RV trip in Bevil Oaks with room for everyone.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhere do I dump tanks and fill water near Bevil Oaks?
You've got several easy options. Village Creek State Park in Lumberton has a public dump station, Beaumont KOA Journey allows non-guests to dump for a small fee, and most full-hookup parks like Hidden Lake RV Park and East Lucas RV Park let you dump on departure as part of your stay. Potable water fill-ups are available at the same locations. The free Sanidumps and RVDumps apps will pinpoint dump stations along your route if you're heading toward Houston or Lake Charles. Pro tip: dump and fill at your last campground before heading home so you return the RV ready for the host's next guest, many hosts offer a small discount for this.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/village-creek/park_information/facilitiesWhat add-ons can I get with my Bevil Oaks RV rental?
Hosts in the Bevil Oaks area offer all the gear that makes a trip easy: delivery and setup, generator use, linens and towel packages, camp chairs, outdoor grills, bike racks, kayak/paddleboard rentals (great for Village Creek), and even pre-stocked kitchen kits. Fees and availability are listed right on each RV's page. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Bevil Oaks or nearby Beaumont, and dropoff is at the same location unless you've arranged delivery. Mileage policies vary by listing, with daily caps ranging from 100 miles to unlimited. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a generator if you're heading to Sea Rim State Park, where most sites only have electric hookups and no shore power at the beach.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/sea-rimHow do payment and the security deposit work for a Bevil Oaks RV rental?
Payment for your Bevil Oaks RV rental is handled securely through RVezy, never in cash or off-platform, so you are protected end to end. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment before pickup to cover incidentals like minor cleaning or missing items, and it is released back to you after the trip wraps up assuming the RV is returned in good shape. To avoid any deposit issues, do a photo walkaround with your host at pickup and dropoff, return the RV with the same fuel and propane levels, and dump tanks if your rental agreement requires it.
