Campgrounds near Evadale, Texas
Evadale sits in southwestern Jasper County on the Neches River in Southeast Texas, about twenty-five miles northeast of Beaumont at the junction of U.S. Highway 96 and several farm roads. The Neches forms the Hardin County line just west of town, and the surrounding country is Big Thicket Piney Woods. RV travelers using Evadale as a base are within a short drive of paddling on Village Creek, hiking in the Big Thicket, and highway access to Beaumont, Lake Charles, and Houston.
The closest option in town is Red Cloud RV Park, with additional private parks including Smith Lake RV Park, Dot's Mobile Ranch, and Texas Star RV Park in the surrounding Silsbee, Vidor, and Lumberton communities. For a public-lands stay, Hilltop at Village Creek State Park offers state-park sites about a half hour south, near Lumberton in Hardin County.
That mix of private RV parks and one nearby state park gives visitors both full-hookup convenience and access to a genuine East Texas ecosystem of bottomland forest, longleaf pine uplands, and cypress-lined creek.
Things to do near Evadale
Paddling is the headline activity. Village Creek is one of the last free-flowing streams in East Texas, and Village Creek State Park sits on the 21-mile Village Creek Paddling Trail with a canoe launch inside the park. The park rents kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards on a seasonal, weather-dependent basis, so calling ahead is smart.
Eight miles of hiking and biking trails wind through longleaf pine savanna, mixed hardwoods, and cypress swamps. Anglers fish the creek for catfish, bass, and sunfish, and no fishing license is required to fish from shore in a Texas state park. The adjacent Big Thicket National Preserve adds ranger programs, primitive camping, and additional paddling routes on the Neches River and its tributaries.

Southeast Texas has a long warm season and a short, mild winter. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel, with mild days, lower humidity than midsummer, and active wildlife. Spring is also the driest part of the year in the Beaumont area, which makes trails and paddling more predictable.
Summer brings heat, humidity, mosquitoes, and afternoon thunderstorms. Sites are still bookable, but plan for early-morning paddling and midday shade. The Beaumont area receives the most rainfall in the state, more than 65 inches annually, driven by Gulf moisture, so storms and standing water are part of the summer routine.
Late summer and early fall are Atlantic hurricane season. Hurricanes Harvey, Rita, and Ike all struck the Beaumont area in recent decades, so watching National Hurricane Center advisories from June through November and being ready to reschedule if a storm enters the western Gulf is prudent. Winter camping is quiet and mild but can be damp, with occasional freezes.

How to book campgrounds near Evadale
For Hilltop at Village Creek State Park, reservations go through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's reservation portal at texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com, or by phone with the TPWD customer service center. Sites can be reserved up to five months in advance, which is one of the shortest windows of any major state park system, so popular weekends fill quickly at exactly the five-month mark. A daily entrance fee applies in addition to the site fee, and a Texas State Parks Pass covers entry for a year across the state system.
Red Cloud RV Park, Smith Lake RV Park, Dot's Mobile Ranch, and Texas Star RV Park are privately operated. Book directly by phone or through each park's own website, and confirm rig-length limits, hookup amperage, and any long-term-tenant policies before towing in.
What to expect on the ground
Expect a Piney Woods setting: tall pines, hardwoods, cypress along the water, and sandy soils. Village Creek State Park offers 25 water-and-electric sites at its Hilltop camping area, along with walk-in tent sites, a group primitive site, restrooms with showers, and a dump station. Reviewers note some pads sit close together on a narrow loop, so extended awnings and slide-outs should be planned around neighbors, and very large rigs should confirm site length when booking.
Bugs are the main nuisance. Mosquitoes, ticks, and chiggers are heaviest in the woods after rain and through the warm months, so repellent is essential. Private parks in and around Evadale tend to offer full hookups, level gravel or grass pads, and easier big-rig access than the state-park loop. Cell coverage is generally usable near town and along US 96, but can weaken inside the state park and along the creek.

Travel trailers commonly start around $75 to $125 per night, Class C motorhomes typically run $150 to $250 per night, and larger Class A motorhomes can range from $200 to $350 per night. Many hosts also offer weekly discounts, so stretching a 5-night trip to 7 nights can lower your nightly cost.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Evadale%2C%20TexasDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Evadale, TX?
A regular Texas or other U.S. state driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Evadale, TX. No commercial driver's license (CDL) or special endorsement is required for motorhomes or towables booked through RVezy. Approved drivers are generally 25 years or older with a valid, non-expired license, which is verified during the booking process. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Pair your home license with an International Driving Permit (IDP) issued in your home country before your trip. Most first-time renters in the Beaumont area are pleasantly surprised at how straightforward the process is.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs RV rental insurance included when I book in Evadale?
Yes, every RV rental in Evadale booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your level of coverage at checkout based on how much extra cushion you want. Hosts do not pick the protection level, you do. That means you can rent confidently knowing that if a deer wanders out of the Big Thicket and dings the bumper, you are not facing the full repair bill on your own.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Evadale RV rental?
You can book your Evadale RV trip with confidence because RVezy sets the cancellation policy, not the individual host, and the policy is the same across listings. After booking there is a short grace period during which you can cancel for a full refund of the rental, and after that the refund amount depends on how far in advance you cancel. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or helps you rebook. For weather disruptions like hurricanes or tropical storms in Southeast Texas, contact RVezy support so they can help you adjust your plans. Lock in your dates early since flexibility is easier on the front end.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Evadale?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Evadale is easy to find by toggling the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy before you book. Many hosts in the Beaumont/Evadale area welcome dogs and even cats, sometimes with a small pet fee or refundable cleaning deposit. Once you're on the road, you'll love that Martin Dies Jr. State Park and Village Creek State Park both allow leashed pets throughout the campground (just not inside buildings or cabins). Pro tip: pack a tick preventative, as the piney woods around the Neches River have plenty of them in spring and summer. Your pup will thank you for the swim at Steinhagen Reservoir.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-information/petsCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Evadale?
Yes, RV delivery in Evadale is one of the smartest ways to start your trip, especially if it is your first time renting an RV. Many hosts will tow or drive the rig directly to nearby campgrounds like Martin Dies, Jr. State Park (about 35 miles north near Jasper), Village Creek State Park (about 25 miles south near Lumberton), or to your own driveway. They will level it, hook up water and power, walk you through every system, and pick it up at the end. To find delivery options, use the Delivery filter on RVezy and message the host with your destination. It is the closest thing to a turnkey motorhome rental Evadale offers.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/village-creekHow does mileage work, and how far can I travel from Evadale?
Most Evadale RV hosts include a set number of free miles per night (commonly 100 to 150), with additional miles billed at a clear per-mile rate disclosed up front on the listing. Some hosts also offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is perfect for longer loops. From Evadale you can comfortably reach Houston (about 110 miles west), New Orleans (about 240 miles east), Austin (around 270 miles), or San Antonio (around 350 miles). If you are planning an RV road trip from Evadale through the Hill Country or along the Gulf Coast, message hosts directly through their listing to discuss a mileage package that fits your route.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Evadale%2C%20TexasWhat are the best campgrounds near Evadale, TX?
There are several strong options for RV camping near Evadale. Martin Dies, Jr. State Park near Jasper offers more than 200 sites with 30/50-amp water and electric hookups along B.A. Steinhagen Lake. Village Creek State Park near Lumberton is a classic Big Thicket experience with water and electric sites and a clear, sandy-bottomed creek. Boomtown USA RV Resort in Beaumont is a paved, full-hookup park about 20 miles south of Evadale. Gulf Coast RV Resort, also in the Beaumont area, is another popular full-hookup choice. Book Martin Dies, Jr. State Park up to five months in advance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system, especially for spring weekends.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/martin-dies-jrWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Evadale?
The sweet spot for an Evadale RV trip is mid-March through early May and again from late September through November, when daytime highs sit in the 70s to low 80s and humidity is more comfortable. Summer (June through August) brings highs in the low 90s with high humidity and frequent thunderstorms, so air conditioning and shaded sites are essential. Winters are mild, with January lows around 40 degrees F and afternoon highs often in the 60s, making December and January pleasant for snowbird-style trips. Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30 with peak activity in August and September, so monitor forecasts if traveling then.
weather.gov/lch/I have never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one around Evadale?
You will do great, even if it is your first time renting an RV. Evadale sits along US-96, a flat two- and four-lane highway with light traffic compared to Houston or Dallas, which makes it one of the friendliest places in Texas to learn the ropes. Every RVezy host gives a hands-on walkthrough at pickup that covers driving basics, leveling, dumping tanks, and propane. You can also message your host with questions before booking. Start with a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer for your first trip, and aim your first overnight at Martin Dies, Jr. State Park, where pull-through sites are forgiving for new drivers.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat if something breaks down on the road in Southeast Texas?
Take a breath: every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on US-96 or a dead battery at a campground near Evadale is a phone call, not a crisis. Help can be dispatched for tire changes, jump starts, fuel delivery, lockouts, and towing. Your host is also a direct line for quirks specific to their rig, like how the awning retracts or where the inverter switch is. Save the RVezy support number and your host's contact in your phone before you leave the driveway, and snap a photo of the VIN sticker for faster service.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I drive my Evadale RV rental across state lines or into Mexico?
Yes, you can take your Evadale RV rental across state lines within the United States. Louisiana is only about 30 miles east via I-10, and popular cross-state routes include New Orleans, the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and points farther east toward Florida. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend across that border. If you are planning a multi-state RV road trip from Evadale, confirm your route with your host through RVezy messaging so they can adjust the mileage package if needed. The drive east to New Orleans on I-10 is roughly four hours and a scenic Gulf Coast run.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?
Plan smart and your fuel budget won't be a surprise. Class C motorhomes around Evadale typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon on regular unleaded, Class A gas rigs hover around 7 to 10 mpg, and Class B campervans can hit 16 to 20 mpg. Most towables don't burn fuel themselves but will drop your tow vehicle's mileage by 25 to 40 percent. Gas in the Beaumont/Evadale corridor tends to run a bit below the Texas average thanks to nearby refineries. Pro tip: fuel up just before you leave Beaumont heading north on US-96, since stations thin out between Evadale and Jasper.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Evadale?
For the best sites, reserve as soon as your dates are firm. Texas state parks like Martin Dies, Jr. and Village Creek open reservations up to five months in advance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department reservation system, and prime spring and fall weekends can fill within hours. Private parks like Boomtown USA RV Resort in Beaumont are more flexible and can often be booked a few weeks out, even in peak season. If you strike out on a state park weekend, check back 7 to 14 days before arrival as cancellations are common when plans shift.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/reservationsWhat are the local driving conditions like around Evadale?
Driving an RV around Evadale is refreshingly low-stress. US-96 and FM-105 are flat, straight, and lightly trafficked, with no mountain grades and no toll roads. The main things to watch for are summer thunderstorms that can drop heavy rain quickly between June and September, the occasional logging truck on rural farm-to-market roads, and deer at dawn and dusk near the Big Thicket National Preserve. Avoid driving through downtown Beaumont during the 4 to 6 p.m. weekday rush if you can. If a tropical system is in the Gulf, check the National Weather Service Lake Charles office forecast before heading out.
weather.gov/lch/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Evadale?
Campgrounds near Evadale offer a nice mix of options. Texas state parks like Martin Dies, Jr. provide 30- and 50-amp electric with water hookups, but generally no individual sewer connections, so you will use the on-site dump station before leaving. Private parks like Boomtown USA RV Resort in Beaumont typically offer full hookups including sewer, plus laundry, Wi-Fi, and showers. Potable water fills are available at park headquarters and at most fuel stops along US-96. Carry a 25-foot sewer hose and a water pressure regulator, because hookup distances and water pressure vary site to site across Jasper and Tyler counties.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/martin-dies-jr/fees-facilities/campsitesWhat is actually inside the RV? Beds, kitchen, bathroom, Wi-Fi?
You will be impressed by how livable modern rentals are. Most RVs available for rent in Evadale, TX include a queen bed, a convertible dinette, a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, and sink, plus a bathroom with toilet and shower. Class C and larger motorhomes typically sleep 4 to 8 with seatbelts for travel, and many include a flat-screen TV, roof-mounted air conditioner, and propane furnace. Wi-Fi is not standard, but most travelers use a smartphone hotspot since cellular coverage along US-96 and I-10 is solid. Filter listings by Sleeps count and check the photo gallery carefully so the layout matches how your group travels.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Evadale%2C%20TexasWhat add-ons and pickup options are available?
Hosts in the Evadale area offer many useful add-ons to customize your campervan rental Evadale or motorhome experience. Common extras include linen and kitchen packages, camp chairs and outdoor rugs, bike racks, generators for boondocking, propane top-offs, and sometimes kayaks (great for B.A. Steinhagen Lake). Pickup is usually at the host's home in Evadale, Beaumont, Lumberton, or Vidor, but delivery to local campgrounds is widely available. Mileage policies and add-on fees are listed clearly on each listing before you book. If you are heading to Martin Dies, Jr. State Park, ask your host about a kayak add-on so you can paddle the cypress sloughs at sunrise.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/martin-dies-jr/activitiesHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card, never directly to the host, which protects both sides of the booking. A refundable security deposit (set by the host and shown on the listing) is held separately from the booking payment around the time your trip starts and released after a final walkthrough, typically within a few days of returning the RV. To avoid deposit issues, take date-stamped photos of the rig inside and out at pickup and dropoff, return it with the agreed fuel and propane levels, and dump the tanks if your host requires it. Keep all communication inside RVezy messaging so there is a clear record.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksAre there great road trip destinations within a few hours of Evadale?
Evadale is a great launchpad for short Texas and Louisiana RV adventures. Galveston Island and its Gulf beaches are about 130 miles south (roughly 2.5 hours), NASA's Space Center Houston is around 110 miles west, New Orleans is about 240 miles east on I-10, Sam Rayburn Reservoir is just 45 miles north for excellent bass fishing, and the Big Thicket National Preserve is right next door for hiking among carnivorous plants and longleaf pines. A classic 5-day loop from Evadale is Big Thicket, Martin Dies, Jr. State Park, Sam Rayburn, and Toledo Bend, all within a 90-mile radius and packed with family RV trip Evadale memories waiting to happen.
