Campgrounds and RV parks near Hamshire, TX

Hamshire is a small unincorporated community in Jefferson County in southeast Texas, sitting between Beaumont and the Bolivar Peninsula on the flat coastal prairie north of the Gulf of Mexico. It works well as an RV base for travelers heading to the Upper Texas Coast, Sea Rim State Park, Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge, and the Beaumont and Port Arthur metro area. Interstate 10 runs just north of town, putting Houston within roughly a ninety-minute drive. Most RV parks in the immediate area cluster around the neighboring town of Winnie, at the I-10 and TX-124 interchange. Winnie Inn Suites and RV Park sits at 205 Spur 5, Highway 124 in Winnie and welcomes big rigs and pets. Bayou Breeze RV Park, Hidden Lake RV Resort, and Gulf Coast RV Resort round out the closest options for full-hookup stays, while Old Time Trade Days Flea Market draws overnighters during its monthly market weekends. The area is rural and quiet, with rice fields, cattle pasture, and coastal marsh in every direction. The region sits within the humid subtropical climate zone and receives the most rainfall in Texas, more than 65 inches annually.

Private RV parks in the Winnie and Hamshire area, including Winnie Inn Suites and RV Park, Bayou Breeze RV Park, Hidden Lake RV Resort, and Gulf Coast RV Resort, take direct reservations by phone or through their own websites and third-party platforms such as RoverPass and Good Sam. Most accept credit cards and require prepayment or a deposit. Public lands operate on separate systems. Sea Rim State Park sites are reserved through the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system, which opens a five-month rolling booking window at 8 a.m. Central. Federal sites near Big Thicket and other national units use Recreation.gov. For Old Time Trade Days weekends, vendor and camper spaces sell out early and should be arranged directly with the market well in advance. Snowbird demand tightens availability at Gulf Coast parks from January through March.
