Camping near Silsbee, Texas
Silsbee sits in the Piney Woods of Southeast Texas, on the western edge of Big Thicket National Preserve and roughly 30 minutes north of Beaumont. The area is defined by longleaf pine, cypress-lined bayous, and Village Creek, which draws paddlers, anglers, and RV campers from Houston and the Golden Triangle.
RV travelers have a mix of options within a short drive. Red Cloud RV Park and Smith Lake RV Park serve travelers who want full hookups close to town. Hilltop at Village Creek State Park sits inside a 2,466-acre Texas Parks and Wildlife property in Hardin County outside Lumberton, about 10 miles north of Beaumont. Indian Springs Camp and RV Park caters to campers who want direct access to Village Creek and Big Thicket trails, while Beaumont RV Park and Marina adds a marina and easy interstate access to the south.
Expect flat, wooded sites, humid air, and a slow pace. Silsbee itself has grocery stores, fuel, propane, and RV supplies, which makes it a practical base for exploring the preserve.
Things to do around Silsbee
Paddling Village Creek is the signature activity. The creek runs clear and sandy-bottomed through the preserve, and local outfitters in Silsbee and Kountze rent canoes and kayaks with shuttle service. Hikers can pick up the Kirby Nature Trail and explore the Turkey Creek Unit inside Big Thicket National Preserve.
Village Creek State Park has short interpretive trails, and while the Village Creek Trail to the swim beach has seen closures from past flood damage, swimming is allowed at the canoe launch area and the swim beach can be reached by kayak or canoe. Anglers can target sunfish, catfish, and bass on the creek, especially in late spring and summer.
For rainy days, Beaumont sits about 20 minutes south and offers the Texas Energy Museum, Gator Country, and the Cattail Marsh boardwalk. Anglers can also try Steinhagen Reservoir and the Neches River for bass and catfish.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV camping. The best time of year to visit Silsbee is mid February to April and October to November, when daytime highs are pleasant and mosquito pressure is lower than in summer. October and November bring drier air, cooler nights, and busy paddling weekends on Village Creek.
Summer is hot, humid, and stormy. August is the hottest month, with an average high of 93°F and average low of 73°F, and afternoon thunderstorms are common from June through August. It is also the peak of Atlantic hurricane season, which runs June 1 through November 30 and has produced major impacts on this stretch of coast, including Hurricane Harvey in 2017, Hurricane Rita in 2005, and Hurricane Ike in 2008.
Winters are mild but wet. Freezing nights happen a few times each season. Heavy rains can cause Village Creek to severely flood, something that recurs every few years, so travelers should check the park alert page before arrival.

How to book campgrounds near Silsbee
Village Creek State Park reservations are handled by Texas Parks and Wildlife. Reservations can be made for today and up to five months in advance, and popular summer weekends and holidays fill up quickly. Day-use passes are available up to one month in advance and are worth reserving during busy periods.
Private parks including Red Cloud RV Park, Smith Lake RV Park, Indian Springs Camp and RV Park, and Beaumont RV Park and Marina take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Monthly and weekly rates are common at the private parks, and some sites hold long-term tenants, so calling ahead is the best way to confirm openings for shorter RV stays.
Holiday weekends, spring break, and fall paddling season are the tightest windows.
What to expect on the ground
Sites in this region are wooded and often sandy. Pull-throughs exist at the private parks, but tree cover means big rigs should confirm site length and overhead clearance before booking. Cell service is generally reliable in Silsbee and Lumberton and spotty deeper into the preserve.
Humidity is the defining factor. Bring bug spray, screen rooms, and a plan for shade. Ticks and chiggers are active from spring through fall, and alligators are present in the creeks and sloughs, so keep pets leashed near water.
At Village Creek State Park the gate is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., the office runs 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and late arrivals after 5 p.m. must check in by 9 a.m. the next morning. Private parks generally have on-site hosts and 24-hour gate access for registered guests. Fuel, groceries, and propane are easy to find in Silsbee and along US 96.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Silsbee%2C%20TexasDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Silsbee, Texas?
Good news: for virtually every RV you will rent on RVezy in Silsbee, a regular Class C Texas driver's license (or the equivalent from your home state) is all you need. Texas only requires a non-commercial Class A or Class B license for personal RVs with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,000 pounds, and the vast majority of travel trailers, campervans, and Class C motorhomes on the platform fall well below that limit. RVezy approved drivers are generally required to be 25 or older, and your ID is verified through the platform during checkout. International visitors can drive on a valid home-country license paired with an International Driving Permit (IDP).

You can book your Silsbee RV trip with confidence because RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy across the marketplace, including a money-back grace period right after booking. Refund outcomes depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date, and the full policy details are available on the RVezy Help Center before you finalize your booking. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy refunds the guest or offers travel credit so your plans are protected. The takeaway: you are not locked into a rigid contract, and the RVezy support team is available to help if your plans change.

tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/martin-dies-jrCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Silsbee?

Many local hosts will drive the rig to your chosen spot, whether that's a campsite at Village Creek State Park (about 15 minutes south on Highway 96), Martin Dies, Jr. State Park near Jasper, or a private property, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. You skip the tow vehicle, the backing-in stress, and the setup learning curve. Filter by Delivery on the listing page, then message the host to confirm the delivery fee and exact location.

Your host is also your first line of support and knows the rig inside and out, so message them for quick fixes like a slide-out hiccup or unfamiliar switch. Save both the RVezy support number and your host's contact info in your phone before you pull away from pickup.
