Campgrounds and RV parks near Kenbridge, VA

Kenbridge sits in Lunenburg County in Virginia's Southside Piedmont, within driving range of two major reservoirs and one of the state's older inland parks. RV travelers typically use the town as a base for trips to Twin Lakes State Park to the north, plus Kerr Lake (Buggs Island) and Lake Gaston to the south along the Virginia-North Carolina line. Twin Lakes State Park is the closest state-run option, offering 33 water-and-electric campsites between Prince Edward and Goodwin lakes. To the south, Kimball Point at Kerr Lake State Recreation Area sits on a peninsula in the 50,000-acre reservoir managed by North Carolina State Parks, and Lake Gaston Americamps in Bracey provides a private-park experience along a 20,300-acre lake with 350 miles of shoreline. Families who want more amenities can look at Amelia Family Campground to the north, while lease-holders and property owners use The Club Resort at Lake Gaston. The mix covers most RV needs: state-park quiet, private-park amenities, and direct lake access.

Virginia state parks, including Twin Lakes, take reservations through the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. Sites can be booked up to 11 months in advance online or by phone. All 33 sites at Twin Lakes are site-specific reservations, and each has water and electric hookups plus a fire ring and picnic table. Kerr Lake State Recreation Area, managed by North Carolina State Parks, uses ReserveAmerica. Reservations must be made at least one day ahead of arrival and can be booked up to six months out, with popular summer weekends opening at 8 a.m. exactly six months prior. Private parks such as Lake Gaston Americamps and Amelia Family Campground book directly through their own websites or by phone. For holiday weekends and July stays, book several months out; midweek stays outside peak season are easier to secure last minute.
