Campgrounds and RV parks near Prices Fork, VA

Prices Fork sits in Montgomery County just west of Blacksburg, in the New River Valley of southwest Virginia. The area is defined by the New River, the ridges of the Jefferson National Forest, and the college-town infrastructure that surrounds Virginia Tech. For RV travellers, that combination means river-focused private campgrounds within a short drive, national-forest sites a bit farther out, and a full grocery and fuel network in Blacksburg and Christiansburg. Most sites within a half-hour of Prices Fork are small, family-run RV parks strung along the New River. New River Junction Campground and Eggleston Springs Campground both sit directly on the water and cater to tubers, anglers, and RV travellers. Sportsman RV Campground offers a quieter base close to the I-81 corridor, while Dixie Caverns Campground near Salem doubles as a stop for travellers moving between the New River Valley and the Roanoke area. Virginia Highland Haven Airstream Only Park is a members-focused option for Airstream owners heading into the region.

Private campgrounds in the area take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. New River Junction Campground books by phone and requires a two-night minimum on most weekends and a three-night minimum for holidays and Virginia Tech event weekends. Site inventory is limited across the riverside parks, so summer weekends and football weekends should be reserved several weeks or months ahead. For national-forest camping in the surrounding George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, reservations run through Recreation.gov on a rolling six-month window, and some forest sites remain first-come, first-served. Virginia State Parks in the wider region, including New River Trail State Park to the south, book through the Virginia State Parks reservation system. Call ahead to confirm rig-length limits. Roads such as Eggleston Road include curves that require care with larger fifth wheels and Class A motorhomes.
