Campgrounds and RV parks near Hooverson Heights, WV

Hooverson Heights is an unincorporated community in Brooke County in West Virginia's Northern Panhandle, sitting on the hill above Follansbee and the Ohio River. It falls within the Weirton-Steubenville metropolitan area, which puts RV renters within an easy drive of parks in three states: West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. The closest full-service option is Tomlinson Run State Park, roughly a half-hour north in Hancock County, which anchors nearly 1,400 acres of forested hills between the Ohio River and the Pennsylvania line. Across the Ohio River, Jefferson Lake State Park sits in the quiet oak and hickory hills of eastern Ohio, while Raccoon Creek State Park lies to the northeast in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, one of that state's largest parks at more than 7,500 acres. Smaller private options round out the mix. Ernies Acres Campground and Hotel RV West Alexander give RV renters closer-in or Pennsylvania-side base camps when the state parks are booked or closed for the season.

Each park uses a different system, so plan by destination. Tomlinson Run State Park reservations run through the West Virginia State Parks system online or by phone, with a two-night minimum and a fourteen-night maximum. Reservations for the Memorial Day through Labor Day window traditionally open on February 15. Raccoon Creek State Park is part of Pennsylvania's DCNR system on ReserveAmerica, with sites bookable up to eleven months in advance and a three-day minimum lead time. The rustic Sioux Campground uses an honor-envelope contact station when the office is closed. Jefferson Lake State Park in Ohio requires reservations, made up to six months out online or by calling 1-866-644-6727.
