Campgrounds and RV parks near North Hills, WV

North Hills sits in Wood County, West Virginia, just north of Parkersburg along the Ohio River. The area works well as an RV base for exploring the mid-Ohio Valley, with river access, state park attractions, and short drives into rural Ohio. Blennerhassett RV Park and Ashland RV Park are the closest full-service options for RV renters, while Castle Care Campground and American Way RV Park offer additional nearby choices with standard hookups and pull-through sites suited to larger rigs. Across the state line in Ohio, Luke Chute Lock 5 - Muskingum River State Park provides a primitive riverside camping option along the historic Muskingum River lock-and-dam system. It is a rustic contrast to the private RV parks closer to town, useful for travelers who want a quiet river setting between longer touring days. Most sites in the area are open spring through fall, with reduced availability in winter. Reservations are recommended in summer and around fall foliage weekends, when weekend availability tightens quickly.

Private RV parks in the North Hills area, including Blennerhassett RV Park, Ashland RV Park, Castle Care Campground, and American Way RV Park, generally take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Booking a few weeks ahead is usually enough outside of major summer holidays, when weekend sites can fill. For Luke Chute Lock 5 - Muskingum River State Park, reservations are handled through the Ohio State Parks system online or by calling 866-644-6727, and can be made up to six months in advance. West Virginia state park campgrounds, such as North Bend, reserve through the West Virginia State Parks reservation system. For holiday weekends and October leaf-peeping dates, booking as early as possible is recommended.
