Camping near Fox Point, Wisconsin
Fox Point is a lakeshore village on Milwaukee's North Shore, and RV renters use it as a base for camping trips along Lake Michigan and into the countryside west of I-43. There are no campgrounds inside the village itself, so trips typically head north toward Ozaukee and Sheboygan counties or south into Racine County, both within an easy drive.
The closest full-service RV options include Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: Caledonia and Jellystone Park™ in Caledonia, Wisconsin, both family-focused private resorts south of Milwaukee. To the north, Lazy Days Campground and Lake Lenwood Beach and Campground offer private-park amenities with beaches and water access.
For a public-land experience, Harrington Beach State Park has more than a mile of beach along Lake Michigan, and the 715-acre park also features a white cedar and hardwood swamp, old field grasslands with restored wetland ponds and a scenic limestone quarry lake. It sits about a 40-minute drive north of Fox Point via I-43.
Things to do around Fox Point
Lake Michigan is the main draw. Families base at Harrington Beach State Park for beach days, and visitors can camp, sunbathe, picnic, hike, bird watch and fish in the park. Anglers can fish Lake Michigan or the park's quarry lake, and hikers can explore the white cedar swamp boardwalk.
Private resorts skew toward kids. The Jellystone Park properties in Caledonia run themed weekends, pools, and character events. Lazy Days Campground offers tent and RV sites with some having sewer, water, and electrical hookups. The campground has its very own sandy beach with open swimming opportunities. The lake is also ideal for paddle boating, kayaking, rowboats, and canoeing; rentals are available.
In the village itself, Doctors Park and the Oak Leaf Trail give short outings close to home.

The camping calendar in this part of Wisconsin is short and predictable. Harrington Beach State Park has a 69-unit family campground that is open from the first Wednesday in May through October. Reservations are available 11 months in advance. Most private parks near Fox Point follow a similar May-through-October window, with limited shoulder-season operations.
Summer is peak season. July and August book heavily on weekends, especially for electric sites and lakeside loops. Booking in the winter for a specific summer weekend is normal practice, and holiday weekends around Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day fill fastest.
Spring and fall are quieter but cooler, and Lake Michigan stays cold into June. Fall brings hardwood color inland and fewer bugs, though nights drop quickly by mid-October. Winter camping is not offered at the state park or the nearby private resorts, so RV renters should plan trips between May and mid-October.

How to book campsites near Fox Point
Wisconsin state park sites are reserved through the state's official reservation portal at wisconsin.goingtocamp.com, operated by the Wisconsin DNR. Camping reservations are required and can be made up to 11 months in advance of your planned date of occupancy. Campers must make a reservation before setting up on any site. Reserve a campsite online or by calling 1-888-947-2757. A separate vehicle admission sticker is required on top of the site fee.
Private parks including the two Jellystone Park locations, Lazy Days Campground, and Lake Lenwood Beach and Campground book directly through their own websites or by phone. Themed weekends at Jellystone properties tend to sell out first.
For popular summer dates, set a reminder for the 11-month release window and have a backup date in mind before logging in.
What to expect on the ground
Expect a mix of wooded and prairie settings. At Harrington Beach, the family campground includes five walk-in sites, a group campsite, an accessible cabin for people with disabilities and a kayak site. The park has a 69-unit family campground, including 31 sites with electrical hookups. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring. A trailer dump station and water fill-up station are available. There are no per-site water or sewer hookups.
Showers and flush toilets are operational during the summer camping season. Firewood must be sourced locally: due to the potential of carrying tree pests and diseases, firewood from out of state or from more than 10 miles away is not allowed on Wisconsin State Park or Forest properties.
Cell coverage along the lakeshore is generally good, and grocery runs are easy in Port Washington or Mequon.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Fox%20Point,%20WisconsinDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Fox Point, Wisconsin?
Good news: for virtually every RV you'll rent on RVezy in Fox Point, your regular driver's license is all you need. Wisconsin only requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for recreational vehicles longer than 45 feet, and almost no peer-to-peer rentals come close to that length. You'll just need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Pro tip: review the coverage options carefully at booking and pick the tier that matches your comfort level.

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental Fox Point options are plentiful, and your dog will love the trip as much as you will. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly see hosts who welcome four-legged passengers, and message them with your pup's size or breed if you want to double-check. Locally, Doctors Park and Kletzsch Park along the Milwaukee River are leashed-dog favorites just minutes from Fox Point, and Harrington Beach State Park about 35 minutes north allows leashed pets on trails and in the campground. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl, your dog's vaccination records, and a towel for sandy Lake Michigan paws.
dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/petsinparksCan the RV be delivered to me in Fox Point?
Yes, RV delivery Fox Point is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, and many local hosts offer it for a flat fee. They'll bring the motorhome or trailer right to your driveway, a Milwaukee-area campground like Wisconsin State Fair RV Park, or directly to Harrington Beach State Park, then set up the hookups and walk you through every system on board. This is perfect for first-time renters who'd rather skip towing or driving a big rig through I-43 traffic. To find delivery-ready listings, use the Delivery filter on RVezy. Pro tip: ask the host to deliver the day before so you can pack at your own pace.
dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/harringtonbeachHow far can I travel on an RV road trip from Fox Point?

Door County is about 150 miles north (roughly 2.5 hours), Wisconsin Dells is 130 miles west, the Wisconsin side of the Upper Peninsula sits about 4-5 hours north, and Chicago is just 95 miles south for a quick weekend hop. travelwisconsin.com/regions/door-countyWhere are the best campgrounds near Fox Point, WI?
You're surrounded by great options for RV camping Fox Point travelers love. Harrington Beach State Park (about 35 minutes north in Belgium) offers a 69-site family campground with 31 electric sites, a dump station, water fill-up, and a mile of Lake Michigan beach. Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in West Allis is the only full-hookup RV park inside Milwaukee city limits, with 50/30/20 amp service. Waubedonia Park in Ozaukee County sits along the Milwaukee River for laid-back riverside camping, and Cliffside County Park in Caledonia has 92 electric and water sites near the lakeshore. Pro tip: book Harrington Beach 11 months out for prime summer weekends.
dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/harringtonbeach/recreation/campingWhen is the best time of year for a Fox Point RV trip?
Late May through early October is the sweet spot for a Fox Point RV trip, with June through August offering the warmest Lake Michigan breezes and average highs in the mid-70s to low 80s F. September is a local insider favorite: temperatures drop to the 60s and 70s, crowds thin out at Harrington Beach, and the bluffs along Lake Drive start turning gold and crimson. Spring (May) brings wildflowers and migrating birds along the Milwaukee River corridor, but nights can still dip into the 40s. Winters are cold and snowy, so most state-park campgrounds close after October. Shoulder seasons mean better prices and quieter campsites.
weather.gov/mkx/I have never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one around Fox Point?
You have got this, first time renting an RV is easier than it looks, especially in Fox Point. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, hookups, slide-outs, the generator, and waste tanks before you ever turn the key. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV on my trip?
You are covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so help is one phone call away no matter where you are. Flat tire on I-43? Battery will not start at Harrington Beach? Lockout in a Door County parking lot? The roadside team can dispatch a tow, jump-start, fuel delivery, or tire change. For mechanical or appliance questions, your host is your first call, they know their RV best and can usually walk you through quick fixes by phone. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after the trip. Save both numbers in your phone before you roll out.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Fox Point RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate trips are totally doable, and many guests use Fox Point as a launchpad for a multi-state RV road trip from Fox Point. Popular routes include heading south to Chicago and the Indiana Dunes, north through the Wisconsin Dells and into Minnesota's North Shore, or east on a Lake Michigan loop through Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed, but you must get explicit approval from your host before booking because insurance and coverage rules apply. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. Message the host directly from the listing to confirm your route, especially for one-way or border-crossing plans.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat should I budget for fuel on a Fox Point RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier costs to plan for. Wisconsin gas prices typically run a touch below the national average, and most Class C motorhomes get 8-10 MPG while Class B campervans and small travel trailers can stretch to 14-18 MPG. For a 300-mile weekend loop (say Fox Point to Door County and back), budget roughly $90-$140 in fuel depending on your rig. Diesel pull-through stations are easy to find along I-43 and US-41. Pro tip: fill up in Mequon or Grafton before heading north, prices on the Door County peninsula tend to creep higher. GasBuddy and the Wisconsin DOT travel map are your friends.
511wi.gov/How far in advance should I reserve a campground near Fox Point?
Earlier is better, and the system is straightforward. Wisconsin State Park campgrounds (including Harrington Beach and Kohler-Andrae) accept reservations up to 11 months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and summer weekends from late June through Labor Day fill within hours of opening. Aim to book 6-11 months out for July and August, 2-3 months out for spring and fall weekends, and you can often snag last-minute weekday spots even in peak season. Private parks like Jellystone in Caledonia and Wisconsin State Fair RV Park book through their own websites. Pro tip: use cancellation-watch tools like Campnab if your dream weekend looks full.
dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/reservationsWhat are local driving conditions like around Fox Point?
Driving around Fox Point is genuinely easy: it's a quiet North Shore village with tree-lined streets, low traffic, and quick access to I-43. Within 10 minutes you're on the interstate heading north toward Sheboygan or south into downtown Milwaukee. A few local tips: Lake Drive is scenic but has tight curves and overhanging branches, so a tall Class A may prefer Port Washington Road. Winters bring snow and ice from November through March, and lake-effect snow can hit fast, so most folks stick to May through October rentals. Summer construction is common on I-43; check 511 Wisconsin before you roll. Otherwise, smooth sailing.
511wi.gov/What hookups and amenities will I find at campgrounds near Fox Point?
Local campgrounds are well-equipped for a comfortable trip. Harrington Beach State Park has 31 sites with 50-amp electric, a centralized dump station, and a fresh-water fill-up near the entrance, plus showers and flush toilets in season. Wisconsin State Fair RV Park offers full hookups with 50/30/20 amp service, laundry, showers, and a dump station right in Milwaukee. Most private parks in Ozaukee and Washington counties offer water + electric, with full hookups (sewer included) at upgraded sites. Knowing where to park an RV in Fox Point is mostly about choosing the hookup level you want. Pro tip: empty tanks before leaving any state park since per-site sewer is rare in Wisconsin DNR parks.
dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/harringtonbeach/recreation/campingWhat amenities can I expect inside a Fox Point motorhome rental?
Modern comforts come standard. Most motorhome rental Fox Point listings (Class C and Class A) include a queen or king bed, fully equipped kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a wet or dry bathroom with toilet and shower, dinette seating with seatbelts, roof A/C, propane furnace, and a TV. Many include a generator for off-grid use, USB charging, and a Bluetooth stereo. Campervan rental Fox Point options (Class B) are more compact but still include sleeping, a kitchenette, and often a portable toilet. Wi-Fi is hit-or-miss, so plan to use your phone hotspot. Pro tip: check the listing photos and amenities list, then message the host with any must-haves.
rvia.org/rv-typesWhat add-ons, pickup options, and mileage policies should I expect?
Hosts offer plenty of ways to customize your trip. Popular Fox Point add-ons include camp chairs and tables, bedding and linen packages, generator usage, kitchen kits, bike racks, kayak racks, and propane refills, usually $10-$50 each. Pickup is most often at the host's home in the Milwaukee metro, but many offer delivery to your driveway or to nearby campgrounds for a per-mile fee. Mileage policies typically include 100-150 free miles per night, with extras running $0.25-$0.45 per mile, and some hosts offer unlimited mileage packages. Pro tip: bundle add-ons and delivery into one conversation with the host before booking so you get a single, clear total.
rvezy.com/blog/rv-rental-costHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card when you book, and you will see the full breakdown of nightly rate, service fee, protection plan, and any add-ons before you confirm. The security deposit is separate from your booking payment and is held (not charged) on your card a few days before pickup, with the amount depending on the RV and the protection tier you select. As long as the RV is returned in the same condition, on time, with tanks emptied and fuel topped up per the host instructions, the hold is released after the trip. Pro tip: take timestamped photos at pickup and dropoff to keep everything smooth.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksIs a family RV trip from Fox Point a good idea, and where should we go?
Fox Point is a fantastic base for a family RV trip Fox Point parents will brag about for years. With kids in tow, the easiest wins are Wisconsin Dells (130 miles, waterparks galore), Door County (150 miles, cherry farms and lighthouses), and Harrington Beach State Park (35 minutes, swimming and the historic Puckett's Pond quarry lake). Closer to home, the Milwaukee County Zoo, Discovery World, and Bradford Beach are all within 20 minutes. Note that Milwaukee County Parks do not allow overnight RV camping, so plan to sleep at a private park or state park. Pro tip: book a 6+ sleeper with bunks and ask the host about a kid-friendly bedding package.
