Campgrounds and RV parks near Raymond, WI

Richard Bong State Recreation Area is the anchor for outdoor activity in the area, with prairie and grassland trails, a swim beach, fishing lagoons, and dedicated zones for model aircraft, rocketry, dog training, and horseback riding. Day trips from any campground can reach Racine's Lake Michigan waterfront, the Root River Parkway, and the trails of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Families renting an RV often build the trip around the water play areas, mini-golf, and themed activities at Jellystone Park™ in Caledonia, Wisconsin and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: Caledonia. Quieter itineraries pair fishing and low-key days at Happy Acres Kampground or Country View Campground with drives to Milwaukee, the Bristol Renaissance Faire grounds, or the Illinois state line.

The prime RV season around Raymond runs from Memorial Day weekend through mid-October. Private resorts like Jellystone Park™ in Caledonia, Wisconsin, Happy Acres Kampground, and Country View Campground typically operate on a seasonal schedule, opening in spring once overnight freezes end and closing after the fall color window. Weekends in July and August book out earliest, driven by families from the Milwaukee and Chicago metros. Spring shoulder trips can be productive but wet. Precipitation in southeastern Wisconsin is heaviest in the warm season, and a wet spring can leave low-lying sites and unpaved roads soft into May. Bugs pick up sharply after Memorial Day near wetlands and kettle ponds. Fall brings cooler nights, fewer bugs, and reliable color through late September and early October. State-managed sites at Richard Bong State Recreation Area stay open later in the year than most private parks, though services taper off as the season winds down. Winter camping options are limited, and most private campgrounds near Raymond close entirely once water systems are winterized.

Roads into the Raymond area are generally flat and RV-friendly, with straightforward access off I-94, Highway 20, and Highway 11. Most private campgrounds provide 30 and 50 amp electric, water, and either sewer hookups or a dump station, along with Wi-Fi that can be uneven at peak occupancy. Site pads are typically gravel over grass. Richard Bong State Recreation Area offers a mix of electric and non-electric sites in its Sunrise and Sunset campgrounds, with shower buildings, flush and vault toilets, and a dump station. Generator hours, quiet hours, and firewood rules are posted at the entrance, and firewood should be bought locally or at the park's on-site vending machine to reduce pest spread. Cell coverage on major carriers is generally reliable across the Raymond area. Grocery, propane, and RV supply runs are easiest in nearby Racine, Franksville, or Union Grove.
