The toy hauler was excellent for my young family. Plenty of space, very comfortable and Dianna was great to deal with. I’d highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our experience with Dianna’s trailer. Communications was excellent which is always appreciated. There were some kitchen items that we felt the trailer could have provided for added comfort and Dianna was able to have these delivered to us during our stay. We would book again.

Very good RV, nice people and really enjoyed renting from them.

We really enjoyed our weekend away at Abraham lake. The solar power kept the battery fully charged during the day and we only saw the battery go as low as 85% at night. The beds were comfy and there was ample space. The outdoor cooking area was perfect for making breakfast in the morning. Harvey had everything we needed, the padded oversized camping chairs were a nice touch. Thank you for the memorable weekend!

On RVezy, motorhome rentals near Clearwater County average around $250 CAD per night, while travel trailers and tent trailers typically run closer to $150 CAD per night, and many hosts offer weekly or monthly discounts. What license do I need to rent an RV in Clearwater County, Alberta?

Good news: your regular Class 5 Alberta driver's licence (or its equivalent from your home province, state, or country) is all you need to rent an RV in Clearwater County. No special RV licence or commercial endorsement is required for motorhomes, campervans, or travel trailers booked through RVezy. You'll need to be 25 or older, and ID verification is handled right inside the RVezy platform when you book. Visiting from overseas? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) at home before your flight and pair it with your home licence. Most first-time renters are pleasantly surprised at how straightforward the paperwork is once they're standing in front of the RV.

Is my RV rental in Clearwater County protected if something goes wrong?

Yes, every RVezy booking in Clearwater County includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Highway 11 (the David Thompson Highway) toward Abraham Lake feeling fully supported. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV, and you choose your preferred coverage level during checkout, not the host. It gives you meaningful financial peace of mind for the kinds of bumps, scrapes, and gravel chips that can happen on Forestry Trunk Road or unpaved access routes to spots like Ram Falls. Pro tip: review the coverage tiers at booking so you can match protection to how adventurous your route will be.

What if I need to cancel my Clearwater County RV trip?

Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and it includes a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates with confidence. Exact refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date, so review the cancellation details on rvezy.com before your trip. If a host needs to cancel, RVezy helps guests get a refund or rebooking credit. Pro tip: book early to secure the best motorhome rental in Clearwater County for July and August, knowing you have a grace window if plans shift.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Clearwater County?

Absolutely, dogs are welcome on plenty of pet-friendly RV rentals in Clearwater County. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see hosts in Rocky Mountain House, Caroline, and Nordegg who welcome four-legged co-pilots. Clearwater County is a dream for dogs: leashed pups can hike the Crimson Lake Provincial Park trails, splash in the North Saskatchewan River, and join you at most Alberta Parks day-use areas. Message your host before booking to confirm pet fees, shedding considerations, and whether crates are needed when you step away. Pro tip: pack a towel and a tick check routine, since the foothills around Nordegg are prime tick habitat in spring.

Can the RV be delivered and set up for me in Clearwater County?

Yes, RV delivery in Clearwater County is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer for first-timers. Many hosts will tow or drive the RV directly to your campsite at Crimson Lake Provincial Park, Cow Lake, or a private property near Rocky Mountain House, then level it, hook up the water and power, and walk you through the systems. Use the Delivery filter to see which hosts offer it and how far they'll travel. Delivery fees vary with distance, so pickups closer to Rocky Mountain House tend to be the most economical. Pro tip: book delivery if you're flying into Calgary or Edmonton and renting a car, so you skip the stress of towing a trailer for the first time.

How far can I drive, and what's the mileage policy on a Clearwater County RV trip?

You've got room to roam on your Clearwater County RV trip. Each RVezy host sets their own mileage policy, and many offer generous daily kilometre allowances or even RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal if you're chasing Abraham Lake (about 130 km west on Highway 11), Banff (around 220 km southwest), or Jasper (roughly 320 km northwest via Nordegg). Mileage details are clearly listed on each RV's page before you book, and additional kilometres are usually just a small per-km fee. Pro tip: map your full loop, including side trips to Crescent Falls and Ram Falls, then filter for listings whose allowance comfortably covers it without surprises.

Where are the best campgrounds near Clearwater County for an RV?

Clearwater County is stacked with excellent RV camping. A few favourites: Crimson Lake Provincial Park (about 15 minutes northwest of Rocky Mountain House) offers powered sites, a swimmable lake, and easy trails; Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site Campground sits right on the North Saskatchewan River with fur-trade history on your doorstep; Goldeye Lake Campground near Nordegg is a quiet, tree-lined spot perfect for paddling; Thompson Creek Provincial Recreation Area is your gateway to the Columbia Icefield; and Fish Lake Provincial Recreation Area offers rustic, family-friendly sites. Boundary RV Park near Caroline is great if you want full hookups. Pro tip: reserve Alberta Parks sites through reserve.albertaparks.ca up to 90 days in advance, especially for July weekends.

When is the best time of year for RV camping in Clearwater County?

The sweet spot for RV camping in Clearwater County is mid-May through mid-September, with daytime highs typically ranging from 18 to 24 C and long northern daylight that stretches past 10 p.m. in June. July and August are warmest and busiest, while late May and early September deliver fewer mosquitoes, smaller crowds, and golden larch and aspen views in the foothills. Winter RV trips are possible for the adventurous: think Abraham Lake's famous ice bubbles in January and February, with overnight lows that can dip below minus 20 C. Pro tip: late September is a local insider favourite, when the Bighorn Backcountry glows yellow and campgrounds near Nordegg are nearly empty.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving in Clearwater County?

You'll be just fine, even if it's your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, levelling, water, propane, and the dump valves so nothing feels mysterious. Clearwater County's main routes (Highway 11 from Rocky Mountain House to Nordegg, and Highway 22 north-south) are wide, paved, and far less busy than mountain corridors near Banff. Stick to motorhomes 25 feet and under or a small travel trailer for your first trip, and avoid narrow gravel spurs like parts of the Forestry Trunk Road until you're comfortable. Pro tip: do a slow lap around an empty parking lot in Rocky Mountain House before heading west, just to get a feel for the turns.

What happens if I have a breakdown or roadside issue in Clearwater County?

You're never on your own. Every RV rental in Clearwater County booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering things like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and tows. Cell service can be patchy west of Nordegg along Highway 11 and on the Forestry Trunk Road, so save the RVezy support number in your phone and download offline maps before you leave Rocky Mountain House. Your host is also a quick call or in-app message away for RV-specific quirks. Pro tip: keep a paper map of David Thompson Country in the glovebox; it's surprisingly handy when the bars disappear past Abraham Lake.

Can I take my Clearwater County RV rental into BC, Banff, or across the US border?

Absolutely, an RV road trip from Clearwater County into British Columbia or through Banff and Jasper National Parks is one of the most popular itineraries on the platform. The Icefields Parkway (Highway 93) is just two hours west via Nordegg, and Banff townsite is about 220 km southwest. Cross-border travel into the United States may be allowed depending on the specific host and protection coverage, so confirm with your host through RVezy messaging before booking and ask them to note it on the trip. One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. Pro tip: bring your passport, vehicle registration, and a host-signed travel letter if heading south of the 49th.

What kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?

Budgeting fuel for your Clearwater County RV trip is easier than most people expect. Class C motorhomes typically get 14 to 18 L/100 km (about 13 to 17 mpg), Class B campervans hit 10 to 13 L/100 km, and a half-ton truck pulling a travel trailer lands around 18 to 22 L/100 km. Alberta gas prices tend to be among the lowest in Canada, often hovering between $1.40 and $1.65 per litre in Rocky Mountain House and Caroline. Top up in town before heading west: the next reliable fuel after Nordegg is Saskatchewan River Crossing, about 100 km further on Highway 11. Pro tip: drive 90 km/h instead of 110 to shave roughly 15 percent off your fuel bill.

How far ahead should I book a campground in Clearwater County?

Plan to book Alberta Parks campgrounds about 90 days ahead, which is when reservations open on a rolling daily window at reserve.albertaparks.ca. For peak July and August weekends at Crimson Lake Provincial Park or Goldeye Lake, sites can be snapped up within minutes of opening. Private parks like Boundary RV Park or Clearwater Trading RV Park near Rocky Mountain House are usually easier and often accept reservations directly through their websites or by phone. Many Provincial Recreation Areas in the Bighorn Backcountry are first-come, first-served, so arriving by Thursday afternoon greatly improves your odds. Pro tip: shoulder-season trips in June or early September often need no reservation at all.

What are the driving conditions like in Clearwater County?

Driving in Clearwater County is refreshingly easygoing compared with the busy Bow Valley near Banff. Highway 11 (the David Thompson Highway) and Highway 22 are well-maintained paved roads with wide shoulders and gentle grades, perfect for first-time RVers. Watch for wildlife (especially deer, elk, and the occasional moose) at dawn and dusk, and slow down on the climb west of Nordegg where wind gusts can be strong. The Forestry Trunk Road (Highway 734) is gravel and best suited to smaller, sturdier rigs. In winter, Highway 11 stays open year-round but can be icy, so check 511 Alberta before heading out. Pro tip: fill up in Rocky Mountain House and check brake temperatures at the Whirlpool Point pullout when descending toward Abraham Lake.
511.alberta.ca/

What amenities do Clearwater County campgrounds typically have?

Clearwater County campgrounds range from fully serviced resorts to back-to-nature gems. Crimson Lake Provincial Park offers powered sites, potable water taps, flush toilets, showers, a sani-dump, and a boat launch. Boundary RV Park near Caroline has full hookups (power, water, sewer), a wash house with showers, and even quad-trail access. Many Provincial Recreation Areas like Cartier Creek and Fish Lake are more rustic with outhouses, fire pits, and hand pumps but no hookups, so come with full fresh water and empty grey/black tanks. The most convenient public dump stations are at Rocky Mountain House and at Crimson Lake. Pro tip: top up potable water in Rocky Mountain House before heading west of Nordegg, where fill points become scarce.

What's included inside a typical RV rental in Clearwater County?

Most RVs on RVezy come fully equipped for a turn-key Clearwater County adventure. Expect a fridge and freezer, propane stove (often with oven), microwave, sink with running water, a furnace plus air conditioning, an indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, beds for the listed sleep count, dining table, and seatbelted travel seats. Class C motorhomes and larger trailers usually include a TV, and many offer a generator or solar setup for off-grid stays at spots like Hummingbird or Ram Falls. Wi-Fi is rare since cell coverage drops past Nordegg, so download maps and entertainment ahead of time. Pro tip: check each listing's amenity list and message the host to confirm bedding, kitchenware, and BBQ are included so you only pack clothes and food.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Clearwater%20County,%20Alberta

What add-ons and pickup options can I choose for my RV rental?

Hosts on RVezy offer a great range of add-ons to customize your Clearwater County RV trip. Common extras include bedding and towel packages, camping chairs, BBQs, generators, bike racks, kayaks, and even fishing gear (handy when you're heading to Swan Lake or the Ram River). Pickup is usually at the host's home in Rocky Mountain House, Caroline, or Nordegg, with delivery available to campgrounds like Crimson Lake or Goldeye Lake for an extra fee. Mileage policies, generator hours, and dump-station service fees are all spelled out clearly on each listing before you book. Pro tip: ask your host to throw in a Forestry Trunk Road map and bear spray, which are nearly essentials around the Bighorn Backcountry.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Clearwater%20County,%20Alberta

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure. When you book your RV rental in Clearwater County, you pay directly through RVezy with a credit card, so no cash changes hands with the host. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized (not charged) on your card before pickup, and it's released after a smooth return, typically within a few business days. The deposit amount is clearly shown on the listing before you confirm and is separate from your booking payment. To avoid any holds, do a quick walk-through with the host at pickup and drop-off, take date-stamped photos inside and out, and return the RV with a full fuel tank and empty waste tanks. Pro tip: dump and refuel in Rocky Mountain House on your way back to make the return seamless.

What are the best road trip routes from Clearwater County?

An RV road trip from Clearwater County opens up some of Canada's most jaw-dropping scenery. Top routes include: Highway 11 west to Abraham Lake and Saskatchewan River Crossing (about 160 km, 2 hours) to connect with the legendary Icefields Parkway; Rocky Mountain House to Banff via Highway 11 and Highway 93 (around 220 km, 3 hours); a loop through Nordegg, Crescent Falls, and Ram Falls Provincial Park (roughly 250 km return); and the haul north to Jasper via Highway 11 and the Icefields Parkway (about 320 km, 4.5 hours). Closer to home, Crimson Lake and Cow Lake make great overnight shakedown trips. Pro tip: build in a sunrise stop at Abraham Lake's Preacher's Point, an insider favourite for photos.
